Anyone own any vintage Macs? These are wonderful machines, I have a PowerBook 150 (1994) with a 33 MHz CPU and 4 MB RAM. I also have an Bondai Blue iMac G3 with a 350 Mhz CPU and 512 MB RAM (Had a P4 machine with 2 256 MB sticks of RAM that I upgraded). I have a SCSI Ethernet adapter for my PowerBook, I can use "WannaBe" to view many sites in text (No support for forms though). I used to use it for an IRC machine before I got my Acer Aspire One. I am going to get around to making it a web server sometime. GLIDER FTW!
Strawberry G3 iMac, 333mHz was the fastest you could get it :D I have a Half-working Performa 550, 33mHz of Raw power and system 7.1 (but you have to hold the power supply cable on or it'll fall out and you have to manually pull the power button back out) I had a Quadra 950 for about 2 weeks then i sold it for $50 to some mac fanboy (i bought it for 20)
I own one of those old iMacs with a dome and a stalk coming out with the screen attached so I can move it around and stuff. Around 6 or 7 years old and I AM NEVER GOING TO SELL IT! I love the way it looks too much.
Quadra 900 (I think it has 16 RAM slots, never checked) running A/UX right now. I don't touch it, mainly because it's been on 24/7 for a long time.
Old Mac laptops pop up on eBay all the time, i have to stop myself buying them.
I have the first mac ever. No not the first one made, just the first generation of macs. The one with the rainbow apple :3
Mac TV. I never use it, but I'm keeping it as an "antique" Mac.

Depends which PowerMac; I wouldn't exactly count a G5 as vintage.
Holy shit, just got a death chime after installing vi, I had to open the case and air a fuckload of dust out.
Yeah, It is a good idea to clean out these computers before using them as they probably have a good 10 years of dust in them.
Depends which PowerMac; I wouldn't exactly count a G5 as vintage.
G4? I had to use it until last summer. It was so annoying because everything used Intels.
I don't have it anymore, but my first computer was an Apple Macintosh Classic. Used to play Spectre, Super Munchers, Asteroids, and a few other good games on that machine. I remember being sad when CDs started to be used with software because all the Macintosh Classic had was a floppy drive.
I used to have an iBook G3 that I received for free. Unfortunately you could see the cracks in the casing from where it had been dropped so it didn't last very long but it was pretty cool while I had it. I remember installing Tiger on it right when it came out.

This is my G3:
Nice! Slot-load too! How do you find the hockey-puck mouse, by the way?
Nice! Slot-load too! How do you find the hockey-puck mouse, by the way?
Perhaps he bought it that way..? My G3 came with one. Mine also slot loads.
Sorry I meant how does he find it, as in what's it like using it.
Sorry I meant how does he find it, as in what's it like using it.
Well I hate using mine... only one button, and have to hold down Control to right-click... plus, it's not even optical, it uses a black and white ball that constantly picks up hair and dirt. :/
Got a Macintosh Classic computer, vintage 1990. Mouse, 2 keyboards, a bunch of programs and other crap. I'm planning to sell it on ebay.
Well I hate using mine... only one button, and have to hold down Control to right-click...
In regards to the button, the Mighty Mouse is the same. However, you can enable right-clicking if you go into the System Preferences App --> Keyboard & Mouse --> Mouse. Once you're in there go to the far right drop down menu on the mouse diagram and set it to "Secondary Button". (That works for the Mighty Mouse; I'm not sure about the hockey puck.) I hope that helps you. :)

Now she has her own PC, so i get my mac back. :)

My Mac came with a 600MHz CPU, and only 256MB of RAM. I thought about upgrading the processor to a 1.2GHz, so I can watch youtube videos without stutter. When I got the Mac from a recycling center, it had a dead 60GB harddrive, No OS on it, and a Firmware password. (Similar to a bios password that won't let you boot past the first screen) I had to follow MANY online tutorials to reset that fucker, but i finally got the plastic shell off the bottom, and pushed the firmware reset button. I also added 512MB of RAM in the extra slot, so it brought it up to 768MB of RAM. I replaced the dead harddrive with a 40GB harddrive I dug out of an old TiVo 2 system. Now that the machine was functional, I still had no OS to install on it. I searched high and low for PPC versions of Linux, but none would boot except for Crux, and I hated it. So I scoured the pirate bay for a PPC OS X, and got a 10.4.11 (Tiger) Installation DVD. After that, everything went smooth as butter getting this thing up and running. The OS installed fine, runs sluggish because of a 600MHz processor, and lets me surf the net with great ease. I loaded my iTunes collection on there, and had this thing rockin' in no time. This thing set me back probably 3 days and 7 hours, start to finish. ...and in the end, it was worth the $65 I paid for it. :)
And it's still probably better build quality than the mighty mouse :/
Maybe so, but it's so anti-ergonomic, it feels like it was made for a 5 year old's hand, because of how short it is.
I didn't really like Macs at all before OSX. But on the subject of old computers, check out the 1987 Amiga 500 , this would have been awesome in it's day.
I have a i586 laptop, not a mac though, runs Damn Small Linux.
