Hey me and this friend just did our GCSES but we're from different schools - did the same ICT course etc. Theres like three units and she was told each unit is a seperate GCSE whereas I was told each unit is added up together and then averaged for a final grade. So my question: is it worth one or three GCSES? Its the one offered by OCR with like 20+ units or something...
I did OCR ICT.
I'm pretty sure 2 units is 1 GCSE
Well on the certificates it says like three units and DISTINCTION by each one...
Confusing...because we've both been told different things and both options seem logical:
> Could be averaged and the final grade is from all three.
> They could all be individual gcses.
Anyone else?
It's three. I did Webpage Design, Databases, and Multimedia Products from the same course.

Wait. With the core, is it printed as three separate things on the certificates or .. ?

If it said Distinction then I'm fairly sure they did a BTEC rather than a GCSE. GCSE grades are letters not words (distinction being a word).
No it wasnt BTEC lawl...OCR is ghey like that...its deff an A...just how many? :D
ICT is only worth one GCSE I believe.
At least that's what I've been told.
I would say one then if it's not a BTEC, I can't see them giving three GCSEs for one subject. Two maybe but very unlikely three.

It's definitely not three and two still seems unlikely.
Each unit is worth one GCSE.
Are you talking about Applied ICT? Core ICT? iMedia?
Applied ICT = 2 GCSE
Core ICT - Short Course = 1/2 GCSE
Core ICT - Full Course = 1 GCSE
iMedia - 3 Topics = 1 GCSE Equivalent
iMedia - 5 Topics = 2 GCSE Equivalent
Hope that helped :)
Thanks!
