I have an exam tomorrow and I can choose between any international conflict ranging from the year of 1945 until 2000.
I don't know what to choose, help me Facepunch.
Cold war. Throw in something about proxy wars and cite korea, vietnam, and israel.
Be sure to drop a reference about Metal Gear in there some where if you do the Cold War.
Go for the Cuban Missile Crisis.
1. US places nuclear arms in Turkey. They have the ability to reach Moscow.
2. USSR begins placing launch sites for nuclear weapons in Cuba.
3. US U2 spy plane takes photos of aforementioned launch sites + missiles. The weapons have the capability to reach US soil.
4. International incident, blah blah blah. Washing - Moscow direct line installed in White House.
5. USSR says that if the US removes its missiles from Turkey then they will remove their missiles from Cuba.
6. US refuses.
7. After a few days they publicly "negotiate" and the USSR removes missiles from Cuba.
8. Unofficially, the US removes its nuclear arms from Turkey. They do this under the table to avoid looking weak.
9. Kennedy can finally shit.
10. Kruschev can finally shit.

Best history lesson ever.
Choose Cold War Crisis, Soviet Union-USA 1945-1985
Okay so I'm going to be talking about the cold war, my focus will be around the Cuban
missile crisis. According to my task I will need a problem to be addressed (obviously),
but what? I have no imagination whatsoever right now, guess I'm a bit tired.

the big nukes might be a good place to start
The fact that all of this led to 'MAD' mutually assured destruction. which is a pretty big problem. meaning if one of them (being the USSR or US) fires, the other will retaliate with everything they have and so on.
Eventually finishing on a positive, in 1972 and 1974 (i think, someone vairfy that) it lead to a nuclear non proliferation treaty being signed. SALT1 and SALT2 i think they were called... something like that.
