• Two Hard Drives One Boot Error, Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love Facepunch Tech Support

So I finally got a second hard drive, and when I plug it in and attempt to boot, it hangs at the Windows 7 splash screen. I don't know if this might have to do with it being set to second in the BIOS as a boot device? That being said, my BIOS gives me a CMOS Checksum Error when I boot it, and it's been doing that for a while. It was never anything major, but with me adding a SATA device, I'm thinking it could be going wonky. I've tried changing batteries already, and it didn't affect anything. Any help is appreciated, I'm assuming that fixing the latter will fix the former, although I'm fine with bandaiding the problem for now, just to get the other hard drive formatted and running. Thanks in advance for all of your love and support, venn.
Reset the CMOS.
I reset the CMOS, it asked me to insert date/time, I did that, and I'm still getting the CMOS bad checksum. Oh well, I got it to boot. Now I just can't access the drive itself. At all.
Could you verify the drive wasn't DOA with a different computer?
Yeah, I got it from an old computer as a salvage, and it booted perfectly fine in there.
Your first problem may be that the battery on the motherboard may need replaced. They are usually a CR2032 these days. Since this was taken from another computer, it could be a driver conflicting with a piece of hardware in the computer you are putting it in.
