Does anyone know if there is some way to get a completely free website, like without the .webs extensions and all? I need some for my games, or at least one for a main site as the games by me / Defense in Depth.

You can do a wordpress site, though your site will be like, "thenerdpest14.wordpress.com"
Is there anyway without an extension? That's probably asking too much, but I would kind of like to do the HTML myself and all that. Do I really need to pay 5$?
If you're a student, there's a free .me website in Github's Student Pack
Sure, you can run one yourself using xampp or similar, but you'd still need a domain.

You want a domain name. The answer is no in that case. However, there is dot.tk which gives nearly the same thing for free, with a weird extension.
For web hosting which is completely separate usually, there are many great free services.

Keep in mind that .tk domains are banned from google searches.

Why so?
Why so?
What do you think happens when you offer the Internet free, anonymous webhosting? And what that will do to Google search results?
Why so?
A huge majority of sites ending in .tk are virus-ridden or a scam. Basically just all-around malicious.
Could kill traffic for your site if you depend on searches and such, and I know many people (including myself) that avoid .tk domains like the plague.
But, it doesn't give your website anything virus related automatically, does it? I'm not depending on searches that much. I just need it more for a website.
I would just buy a domain name and host the thing yourself. It's not too expensive to buy one for a couple years and there's ways to make money back with advertising, donations and selling your games.
Maybe I will. Not sure if my latest game will get anywhere though, lest I forget the disasters of Walrus Tusk Boxing or J-Rope...

I think I probably already know the answer, but why don't you host your games on Steam? Too many compromises to have to make with them I'm guessing?

If that sounded snarky it wasn't intended to be, I'm just curious.
First off, they have to be Greenlit. Don't they? Secondly, it costs 100$ to be able to submit games to Steam. I also don't know if people did actually like Walrus Tusk Boxing. That one lady who declined to review it saying it wasn't engaging didn't help.

You're working on something your passionate about though, don't let the word of one person stop you from pursuing your dreams.
As far as Steam goes, yeah I'm p sure it has to be greenlit, and the $100 is a one time fee for you as a developer, so it's not per game. I'm a budding developer myself and have looked into this a bit, and it seems pretty daunting, admittedly. Don't let the obstacles stop you from reaching your goals.
Well, I don't know if Walrus Tusk Boxing would fit well on Steam. It feels like it's more for a phone game. I also feel like people really wouldn't like it that much. My friends who've played it say they like it, I think. But that's what your friends are supposed to do.

Well let me ask you, hypothetically if Walrus Tusk Boxing goes on Steam (or Google Play or the Apple Store, if it's a mobile game) and it totally flops, would you give up making games after that?
It did already. It was. No, I didn't. In fact, I'm already working on the next game. I still wonder if it is due to the lack of advertising.
I've been hosting a website through Dropbox. Not sure how far you can go with that but it's handy for simpler websites.
