I got a 90% :( - General - Facepunch Forum

Im taking a C++ class in school and I received a 95% on a program for not making hours_worked a variable of type double. Normally I wouldn't argue but that broke my perfect score streak. Do you normally get paid for any parts of an hour? Or is your hours rounded to a whole? I really want a 100% on this so I want to know if its worth it to bring it to his attention. Please respond with a Yes or No and a reason.

Yes. The way it works at our law firm is it rounds down to the nearest half hour. Say they get in at 9 and leave at 5:29 it counts as 8 hours. If they leave at 5:30 it counts as 8.5. Thus you should set it as a float/double variable for hours.

In every job I've worked in the past 4-5 years that's been paid by the hour, the hours have been broken down into quarter hours. It doesn't really seem like a lot, but if you're consistently working just a few minutes over every shift it does start to add up, which is why I imagine it was implemented. For the record, this has been the policy at 3 places of employment in several states.

When in doubt, make the variable a Double. Or you could ask the teacher or something. I mean, it is their job.

For fucks sake, it's a public school system, who cares? It's not like your going to get a metal for getting all A's in school...

First of all, i don't care about getting a low grade. Its just that I had all 100% since the beginning of the year and it pissed me off that I lost the streak. Secondly, I am going to ask if he was wrong no matter what you say. Thirdly, you do get medals for doing well in school, even if it is a public school system it does matter later on.
