• Quick question about bottleneck

Hello everyone, I have been out of the hardware scene for awhile but I'm thinking about jumping back in. I'm getting a Visiontek 4870 (ordering tonight) and I was wondering if I would see a significant boost in FPS from a 8800GTS WITH a 5600 X2 AMD. Would there be a significant bottleneck? Thanks!
Very significant bottleneck, but it wouldn't be a whole lot worse than from an 8800 GTS.
Is there any benchmarks so I could get an idea?
It wouldn't be that much to upgrade your CPU as well.
Budget of 180$. Plus, I would have to get a whole new mother board.
there isn't much of a bottleneck in that system, I mean eh http://www.anandtech.com/bench/default.aspx?p=30&p2=62
That's the stuff I was looking for, thanks dude.
There's a huge bottleneck, what's your mobo? If it's AM2/AM2+ compatible, then you can stick an AM3 Quad core on it without changing it, and still get a FPS boost without a new GPU which would be good. [editline]01:00AM[/editline] And if you're playing mostly source games, then you'll be fine since most source games are less GPU intensive than other games such as GTAIV and Crysis. A 3.0GHz Quad core Phenom II is around 170. And you could wait to buy a 5000 Series card in september with some saved money.
