I loved the Lego Star Wars games, but could never get in to the other ones, with the exception of Lego Harry Potter on the ds whenever I got bored.
But with all the additions they are doing, this one definitely has my attention.

Nothing wrong with that, but I'd really recommend seeing the movies. They're very well done, if a bit corny at times.

Never saw any of the movies but that sounds like a great feature. I mean, yea they sorta had the free-roaming and crafting in Lego Universe but still. (Don't ask how I got that info. All I did was watch my little brother play it one day)

Lego batman 2 had free roam and it was awful. The system that guided you to levels was awful (trail of incredibly hard to see lego studs that were glitchy as fuck and couldn't decide which way to take.), and you had to look high and low to find any characters.

So I don't have high hopes for lego LOTR if it has free roam.

Use the compass. It's not that dissimilar to the one used in Bethsoft games.
