Okay I made a thread about his before a month or so ago and the problem was left unresolved. My laptop screen, the image itself not the screen, has frequent bursts of violent shaking.
I do not think it is a hardware issue
Recently I came to college and joined their wireless network. To join their network you have to go through Cisco Clean Access agent and Symantic Endpoint antivirus software. My computer had problems with the access agent so i was given a bypass -- allowing me to have full access (previously i only had temporary, giving me slow speed etc). Now somehow I believe this is related but I don't know how -- I have noticed screen shaking on some of the colleges computers but not to the extent of mine. I believe it to be a network problem -- if that's possible. The shaking usually starts when I turn on my laptop and goes away after an hour or two.
Also, when i have these shaking spurts, it goes away or becomes less when i hit or shake my laptop.
Other possible causes:
- it could of course be hardware
- some sort of interference from electric things etc., static. i have disconnect everything else in the area that runs on electricity/issues a signal but it did not seem to do much. but i live in a dorm so it could be coming from another room etc.
- this is sort of ridiculous, but i live in a place where there is earthquake activity. perhaps that is interfering with it i don't know
Please help.
any large magnets lying around your room?
no i thought of that. there aren't any in my room, but they are doing construction right under us -- there may be something coming from there.
does it work if you go somewhere else?
once i go home im going to bring it and test it out -- this should confirm if its a hardware error or not. im going to take it to the library today, but if it has something to do with the network then this wont help much because i will connected to the same wireless.

when i shake the laptop it goes away, but when after a while of being stopped, when i shake the laptop it comes back.
when you shake it? sounds like a hardware problem
what makes you think that. if its a signal then the signal is being disrupted when it shakes.

thats my logic at least
just go to a starbucks or something and try it.. if it still happens then it's a hardware problem.
if it is hardware do you know particularly which piece?
lcd?
Its most likely the CCFL converter for the LCD screen..
so you don't think it could have something to do with the cpu/harddrive/video card?
don't see how the HDD could make the screen shake
videocards are unlikely to make the screen shake.. Its quite common for a broken CCFL converter to make the screen go haywire though... Could also be a loose connection.. you could try to reseat the connector inside the laptop.
I wouldnt recommend you doing it without a teardown guide or something though (Unless you are familiar with the laptop ofc)
all right i am connected to a different wireless far from my dorm. so far there has been no screen shaking at all, which is an incredible relief. this means that it is probably not a hardware issue, or i have just gotten lucky (ill test it again later on to be sure). but if it's not hardware then it has to do with the network or some other sort of interference.
This doesn't seem physically possible.
I had a simlar issue with my phone it mysterisally disapeared Though .
don't know what to tell you man. i just know that it's not shaking here.
