I've looked around and I'm not really sure what pre-builds out there look good. I'd like to play recent games on atleast high. And before anyone says it, I'd love to build a PC, in fact i was planning on doing that but my parents don't want to 'risk' anything. Can anyone recommend me a pre-built PC for preferably 800 at most?
it's actually pretty hard to screw up
That I know of, there aren't any prebuilts that will run most games on high for $800. Most PC repair places will put a computer together for you, so ask your parents if you could do that.
Well you need to explain to your parents in the best way possible because to be honest you'll never get your moneys worth with a pre-built. There is no real risk either, probably lower with a custom build, I've had pre-builts that weren't properly put together one even had a broken fan (these were bought for me, before you assume I'm hypocritical :P).
Ask questions here and look up some demonstrations of how-to-put one together, it's one of the simplest things ever trust me, only people I know who are fooled into buying pre-builts are people who have no knowledge of computers, and instantly assume that putting one together is both heavily time consuming and extremely complex.
How much would a pre-built pc that would be able to play games on high cost? I've already tried talking them out of it, but some options i'm thinking of presenting to them may be getting my uncle to build it with me or a repair shop like jetboy said if i could find one. But for now, they're pretty set on the idea of buying a pre-built, so any pre-builds worth looking at please show me.

Yes, and can someone show me a decent $800 pre-build and tell me why its crappy. Most i've seen have a pretty good cpu and lack a good video card.
Actually, you can find very good gaming PCs for even $600-$800. Lemme find one....
Here ya go. Don't know why people think it's so damn hard to find a budget gaming PC... and I think with a bit more searching I could find a cheaper one.
Quad core @ 2.8 Ghz, 4Gb DDR3 RAM, and a GTX 460, which should run most games on high. (about $880)

Here's one with a faster CPU and an HD 5770 (not quite as fast as the 460 according to benchmarks, but still runs most games on high pretty damn decently): (about $830)

I do, however, agree that it would be a HELL of a lot better to convince your parents to let you build your own. You can get similar specs to these for a little over $630, and MUCH better ones for the price range you're thinking of.

Mostly because of the video cards. The ones that come on prebuilts aren't the best, even though you can sometimes find a gem. If the video card sucks, then the kickass processor and 6Gbs of RAM isn't going to help you much.
How about you don't buy a prebuilt, they're all shit.
I got an Acer Aspire M3300. I replaced the Graphics card with an ATI 5670, and the total cost came out to $730.
Phenom X4 @2.6GHz
6GB DDR3 RAM
Radeon 3200 (Stock - Which is a terrible onboard gpu for 1920x1080 gaming, but can handle 1600x900 on source games at 40 fps - still bad)
1 TB Hdd
Blue LED Power Light which is pretty cool.
I thought this was a pretty good deal, because I researched the parts, and they came to around the same price...
All I need to upgrade with this desktop now is get a newer gfx card, and a new psu.
Try to find a link where you can buy one, because its a really decent pre build, although many would say "Just build your own"
terrible

Not to mention the less than perfect motherboards and PSU.

They do that on purpose to prevent upgrading :science:
