Well I guess this a question thread;
Is anyone else having problems with the Steam store/community? Since last night I've been getting error 118 whenever I try to access the store, or community. I can reach the forums just fine, but normal steampowered.com and steamcommunity.com don't load, neither in the Steam client nor my web browser. I'm in the UK. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? Thanks in advance.
The pc of a friend of mine shuts down when he starts steam. He e-mailed them but the instructions they gave him did not make a difference.

Not saying that I.E is terrible like any other fanboy.
But have you tried any other browers? Firefox, google chrome?

Like I said, I tried the Steam client. I've just opened Firefox Portable and it seems that it's not working on that, either.
If you havin' steam problems I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but my steam ain't one.
Weirdly, I can get event notifications.
Me and my brother are having the same problem.

I've just tried upgrading to the beta client, and bizarrely enough, it's downloading.

And now it's working. So, apparently, if you have problems the solution is upgrading to the steam beta.

Nope, it's stopped again.
