I'm not a computer making pro, so what I always do when getting computer parts is run it through a couple friends and double check it. Unfortunately, most of them are out of town, so I need some help with this 1.5k build. I'd like to run Fallout 3 and Bioshock on max with 80+ FPS or so. Source games would also have to run above 80+ FPS. If that can't be possible without going over the max budget of 1.5k, thanks for helping out anyway. Can you reuse your monitor, keyboard, etc?
Can you reuse your monitor, keyboard, etc?
I'd like a new monitor, keyboard, and mouse, but only as a consideration. If there's a low budget gaming monitor-keyboard-mouse thingamajoojie, count me in. If those are your parameters you could walk away with a $500 build. Source is very old and bioshock and fallout are still over a year old, which in pc gaming is a lot in terms of performance. a $1500 build will play any game that comes out today at a very good fps.

I usually make a wishlist but since the combo deal won't go with the list. Scratch that combo deal. Mainly anything with HDR and pretty lighting. (and the DX11 scene) (i'd LOVE it to run Oblivion with hdr and max with mods at the highest possible fps, but you don't need to. it's just a preferred choice.) There's 25 times the i7 was winning over the Phenom, I don't see where you're getting at.
look at gaming it does better unless you like to play far cry 2 most of the time i7 wins in benchmarks if that is all you do get one
look at gaming it does better unless you like to play far cry 2 most of the time i7 wins in benchmarks if that is all you do get one
Hence why you get the i5.
Hence why you get the i5.
What's the difference between the i3, i5, and i7?
i7 has hyper threading and four cores. i5 750 has no hyper threading and four cores. New i5s/i3s have two cores.
Hence why you get the i5.
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/default.aspx?p=102&p2=109 better overall hardware > 2fps
A 1.5k build will easily play those games in excess of 100 fps.

Wish list doesnt work, also why would you get rid of the 5870 its way better, appart from money
http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=10199474 There we go. For the same price as a 5870 right now, you can get two 4890 which run much faster than a single 5870. Or you can get 2 5770 for about 80 less and still run better than a single 5870. This of course stops you from being about to crossfire 2 5870s later on, but by the time you would need to, more price efficent are likely to have come out.
