I'll start off with the fact that this thing has always had problems, but they've been fixed in a timely manner.
This time, there is no clear problem with it, it seems to work sporadically. Whenever it's plugged in the internet becomes slow or just doesn't load anything at all, yet when our modem is plugged directly into a PC, I get normal speeds.
I've tried everything I could think of, aside from flashing new firmware. I've done a hard reset (30/30/30), I've tried just unplugging and for X amount of time and plugging it back in, and I've tried changing multiple settings (Firewall, clone MAC, etc..).
Nothing is working, after the hard reset it will work normally for about 30 seconds and then go back to shitting on me. So now I'm here to ask for help and guidance. Does this thing need new firmware? Do I need to replace it? Is there a setting I've missed?
Because it's only done this the past 3 days, and I haven't tampered at all with it in the past few weeks. Now everything has been reset anyway it still doesn't operate the way it should.
I should add, it worked off and on within those 3 days, but today it just refuses.
Not sure what your problem is, but you can try putting ddwrt on it: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/WHR-HP-G300N
It's already running dd-wrt, I might just try reflashing it.
Has anyone used open-wrt? I would like to try it but it seems rather complicated.
I'd try flashing a newer version: ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2013/02-11-2013-r20675/buffalo_whr_hp_g300n/
Well I've noticed more how it works, it'll load homepages, but after that, no other links work nor do applications like Steam.
Also I tried flashing through the web UI, and ended up getting "update failed."
I then tried to TFTP it through Ubuntu on a USB and ended up crashing Ubuntu somehow using the disable networking command.
