QUESTION: Able to Hack A 4th Gen iPod Classic? (Watching Videos)
5 replies, posted
Simple question, any way to hack the system so we can watch a video on it.
It is able to view photos and play music in a colour screen, possible for a video playback system?
I'm pretty sure this would be very impossible, simply due to the limited processing capability of the 4th gen. There may be a way to load a Linux environment onto it with some voodoo magic and MAYBE get a small enough codec running to play videos, but I'd have no idea where you should start.

Maybe? Not 100% sure if it's compatible but looks like it.
You can even theme it to be almost like the iPod firmware:

Still, I dunno a lot about iPod classics but worth a shot.

in that case forget it.
I don't want to watch pathetic video quality. Thanks for the help. :)
Rockbox for the 4th gen comes with a MPEG Player.
i'll have a look, see if it's good.

well I tried it, didn't work.
Plus the system seemed to have slowed a bit by it.
