I though Far Cry 3 on PC was actually pretty dang great. I never ran into any issues and it ran smooth.
AC3 had some bad optimisation problems in Boston, but a fun game. Not my favourite of the series though.
stop pretending that your DRM ever did anything to curb piracy. though they did pretty good with far cry 3 so I guess they're trying
"Despite how our DRM was 150% successful and how you ingrates refused to buy an inferior port of a game you already bought for you PsBox and your 3-360, we are willing to try and make a change. We honestly didn't think that Steam thing was gonna last and thought everyone would use something similar to our perfect security measure. We know now we need to copy this Steam thing as closely as possible so we can eventually get all of your moneyz".
That's what I read that as.
Translation: Now that we see Steam is making tons of money, we want a slice of that pie. Please support Uplay!
Far Cry 3 was awesome and apparently Watch Dogs will get a simultaneous PC and console release too.
Ubisoft > EA > Activision
I'd rather have a proper uplay than an improper uplay.
I mean sure, steam would be ideal, but when ubisoft insists on having uplay at all, I'd rather have it be proper.
Especially for watchdogs.
Here's how to improve your relation with the PC community, Ubisoft:
- Drop the bullshit DRM. DRM shouldn't try and block all piracy, it should try and block as much as possible without hindering the user. The moment DRM starts hindering the user is the moment your DRM is failing and actively encouraging piracy as the better option.
- Fuck off with Uplay, get full integration with Steam/Steamworks.
- Actually properly optimise your games for PC instead of giving what basically amounts to straight console ports (though it seems they're doing this)
I really hope Uplay doesn't pull an Origin and Ubisoft start pulling their titles off Steam to promote their own service.

They dropped their always-on DRM like 10 games ago.

A more efficient way of doing this is:
-No DRM other than Steam w/ Steamworks.
-Properly optimized PC ports.
Meh honestly all they need to do is make Watch Dogs run/play great on a PC, have good PC options in the menu (letting us change render distances, shadows, AA, resolution, texture quality, the works that have been standard for PC games since forever), an interface system that works good with the PC, and then make it so it doesn't require uPlay or have any crazy "always online" DRM involved with it.
Boom, you just released a soilid and awesome PC game that doesn't feel like its just a straight port from the consoles.
Bonus points if you let us mod the game too. I mean, you don't have to spend time developing tools, but it'd be nice if the file structure was open to mods on a simple level (i.e. texture files can be accessed and swapped out, changing values on guns, etc). Though this would cause havok with the seamless integrated multiplayer so maybe not such a good idea for watch dogs
I hope they release the game on steam. I don't care if they bumped the price compared to on Uplay, just let me have the option.

Wasn't there an article yesterday that said the complete opposite?
Ubisoft's games are alright to be honest, but I absolutely hate uplay and such.

No. They said the PC version would be delayed after the PS4 release.
Ditch the "Uplay only" approach for digitally distributing your games.
And also stop being so DRM happy, and touch up those console ports some more.

As stupid as it is, I think we should let the PS4 users beta test it for us this time, especially if it turns out to be a dud.
Make a good map editor
Simple =/= Good
I still have a bitter taste of From Dust.
How about fixing the FPS issues in AC3, y'know... BOSTON!?
Hey guys, remember a couple months ago when Ubisoft dropped the draconian DRM thing?
You can stop bitching about it now

Source? The creative director confirmed it would be simultaneous.

The PS4 version comes out first, then the PC and consoles.

I believe the creative director more than an obscure news article, have Ubisoft themselves actually corroborated this story? I don't see anything in the article backing it up or even where their source is from.
Some multiplayer content for AC3 was delayed for 2 months, so I don't know about that.
Eh to be honest, I kind of like uplay. It doesn't get in the way and you only have to launch it once if you want to play the game and it HAS A PROPER OFFLINE MODE, something which even steam can't do.

Sure I hope it comes out in 2013 too, but we all know how Ubisoft is. They say this with every release and then it gets delayed a month before go time. I would love for it to come out this year but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

1. They did
2. Uplay isn't that bad, you can even unlock free "DLC" with achievements and it has its own version of Steam cloud and they still sell their games on Steam.
3. Every Watch Dogs presentation we've seen was running on a PC.

1. They got rid of their drm ages ago, they confessed to news outlets that always on DRM was a horrible idea and they'd remove it
2. I love steam like the next guy but there needs to be healthy competition
3. cant comment on 3 because i havent played FC3 or AC3 but people have said that they run great
I didnt always like ubisoft but i gained a lot of respect when they listened to the PC community about how DRM was destroying their gaming experience
