Just because you're a very well knows search engine doesn't mean that piracy will instantly stop when you remove all links to piracy sites.
In fact it probably won't do shit and people will go over to another search engine instead.
The new measures, mostly welcomed by music trade group the BPI, will instead point users towards legal alternatives such as Spotify and Google Play.
Now it makes sense
Getting just that little bit closer to a whitelist of acceptable websites.
"Fighting piracy" by providing paid links to other websites.
Why did I read the title as " Google changes 'to fight privacy' "?
As if people don't know urls.
Or how to use Bing.
Now it makes sense
Don't forget that google is now charging these legal sources to post their 'ads' to the front page.
This is literally nothing more than google giving into the requests of the RIAA and BPI at the cost of gaining capitol. Which is a good thing for google from a business perspective, And also does not mean that the 'illegal' search results still won't show up later on in the results list.
The average user has nothing to lose except for a few extra seconds of searching for their favourite source.
This won't even be that push to move to a new engine that people have been waiting for.
Breaking news: Bing usage skyrockets
You will never be able to fight piracy
It will always be a thing as long as there's a market for it
Do people even use google to find warez? That sounds very ineffective.
Isn't there a demographic of artists that ONLY release their stuff via torrents or tpb? Doesn't this harm their fame or something?
Why not just display the most relevant search results highest?????
This is retarded.
THE RISE IF BING
I love how they say they are going to add it and then
"Crucially, however, these will be adverts - meaning if legal sites want to appear there, they will need to pay Google for the placement."
Google got its revenge for pushing them to this.

Google "[game or movie or thing like that] torrent" and see what comes up.
As of this, it wont work, but still.
