I serously regret having bought Battlefield 3. It just seems like they're doing everything they can to compete with Call of Duty.
I'm going to go ahead and sum up the rest of the posts in this thread
1. People complain that BF is dying and this is a ripoff or whatever
2. Those people are proven wrong as soon as someone mentions the old BF expansions and how they had the same or less content for the same price or more
There you have it folks
I had more fun with Bad company 2 than with Battlefield 3 but I think going back to bc2 would feel as too much of a downgrade .

By offering five expansion packs at a discounted price?

Battlefield series died after 2142.

The only thing I really didn't like is the new small/chokepoint maps. By the clusterfuck gameplay and need for rules on explosives, you can tell the game isn't meant for them.
That plus EA's advertising before it was released makes it obvious they are doing some things to draw that crowd.

Bc2 felt like a more fun game when I used to play it. It was exaggerated, it was colourful, it was pretty fun. But going back to it now is painful, the hit detection is awful, the movement is clunky as all hell, it doesn't really have that variety that BF3 provides. But it still sounds bloody amazing.
i only want either 2143 or bf3 vietnam
fuck this modern shooting doods shit
IMO near-future warfare looks set to become the next big played-out thing what with Blops 2 and probably 2143. People will be begging for modern warfare again in a couple of years, or maybe we'll go back to ww2 who knows

And somewhere in the near future... BF4 out of nowhere!
Which is fucking ridiculous, seeing how BF3 is doing pretty well.

thank you.
I never expressed my feelings about Bc2 that well, and you did it.
The game really had a pretty clunky movement. Kind of felt like a tank. Literally.
I was on the fence to buy it but decided on just waiting for BF4 since thats only a year away and I'm already kinda tired of BF3.

I really want 2143 as my first battlefield game was 2142 and I loved it and played the shit out of that game. But I fear they will just rush making it trying to stay in competition if they do make it. Now if they do make it and it becomes an epic game then yay but I now have my doubts.
There are still too many little things that are putting me off from buying BF3 (Many of them personal nitpicks). I'm just going to stick with BF2 until they get their shit together.
Look around and you can get premium for £15 off a key site.
You won't be banned, and you'll get a ton of extra content for dirt cheap.
RIP parent's credit cards all over the world.

i want some made-up cold war era shit a lá WiC, like i mentioned in some other BF3 news thread

At the very core, "shooting doods" is "shooting doods." FPS is FPS.
The era it takes place in only does so much. Gameplay and mechanics is what makes it work.
you can't have jetpacks in modern day combat
you can't have giant walker mechs
you can't have those huge-ass flying fortresses in modern day
you can't have badass FORTUNATE SON blaring out of your tanks on a mms
you can't fight in the jungle in the average mms (no man its all about that afghanistan, so kuwaii)
also; flammenwerfers, dont see those in a modern shooter
But walker mechs and flying fortresses are unrealistic and impractical!! :saddowns:
I gotta admit, 2142 was probably the best battlefield for me.

While true, not my main point.
BF3 had a lot of innovation in terms of on-the-ground mechanics. Poo-pooing it all because it took place in modern day is not fair.
Also, as an actual fan of CCR, I'm sick and tired of Fortunate Son. Give me "Run through the Jungle" if you're gonna do CCR and Vietnam.
Good for them. Battlefield 3 Premium is a good deal, though I've yet to buy it myself.
I loved BC2: Vietnam, I'd love to see BF3 do an expansion like that.
As soon as I get money, it will sell 1 more.

For me its the opposite.
Playing BF2 + mods after BF3 feels like an upgrade, imo. The gameplay of BF2 just feels so much better.

No it doesn't, the gunplay in BF2 is garbage, every single weapon is incredibly weak and incredibly inaccurate. You can be standing still, using ironsights, shooting at someone else standing still and it'll still miss half of the shots. Close quarters infantry combat in BF2 is just bad, BF3 did that part a million times better.

I'm saying with mods.
Mods make it 100 times better. Vanilla BF2 gunplay is crap, I agree with you on that.

Mods like what?
Mods like what?
Forgotten Hope 2, Project Reality, Combat, and a few others.
I don't know, it's just my opinion that I like BF2s gameplay alot more.

None of those really change gunplay, they just add more inaccurate low damage weapons and Project Reality also makes it even dumber by making it so you have to wait like 5 seconds before firing just to reach that level of accuracy.
