Ok I just bought a Phenom II x4 and a ASUS m4n72-e sli motherboard, I installed them and booted up, installed WIndows 7 64bit and everything else, it asks me to restart to finish installation of updates, so I do. Comp restarts and what do I get? All fans and lights turn on and go full speed, but nothing boots, no POST, no BIOS, no nothing. juts a lot of whirring and the cd led flashing fast and the hdd led flashing fast I have tried the following: Reseating the CPU Replacing the CPU with another dual core I have Booting with ram sticks in/out each one etc Booting with on graphics card in, booting with two, booting with none Reseting the CMOS by taking out the battery and putting it back in 30seconds later unplugging everything and holding the power button on for 30sec/1min (apperntly works) booting with no hdd booting with no dvd drive booting with just power and dvi plugged in I have tried everything I can think of and im out of ideas. I need Help. Thanks
Mobo not compatible with CPU. [editline]10:19PM[/editline] The mobo is AM2/AM2+, the CPU is AM3.
What are you talking about? You can use an AM3 CPU in an AM2+ socket motherboard as long as there is a BIOS version to support it. You can't use an AM2+ in any AM3 sockets though.
oops I was looking at the wrong mobo

is it posting?
is it posting?

no POST
. Do you hear beeps?
Mobo might be DOA
No beeps = DOA.
But iut was working perfectly before as I installed windows 7 and steam etc as soon as I restarted it just stoped working. I can try switching motherboards but I would also have to switch back to my am2 dual core as my old board doesnt support am2+ (no really it deosnt no bios update can, some even can kill the board) about the beeps I havent put that small speaker to 4pin thing in yet, or is there a onboard one. will install that small buzzer/speaker in now [editline]11:43AM[/editline] ok i installed the speaker into the motherboard. No Beeps. Just the same whirring, all leds on no boot. If the motherboard is DOA (dead on arrival im guessing?) then I would have to switch back to my old cpu/mobo and reformat AGAIN :suicide: why does everything that you do for yourself never work, and everything that you do for others works no problem :saddowns:
Yea, gotta send it back and get a new one if there's no beeps.
Yea, gotta send it back and get a new one if there's no beeps.
doing a RMA request right now. Hope I can get a replacement soon as I need my PC back up and working
Did you use standoffs?
I have this problem sometimes when i start up my computer. Screen gets no signal etc. FOund out that pressing the restart button or just shutting down and starting again worked. So if your computer has a restart button, try pressing it and wait about 10sec. If nothing happens, try it again. Edit: Wow, just tried to help and got a dumb?
Did you use standoffs?
Yes. I had a motherboard in there before with all the stand offs that are needed.
Sent the parcel back for a replacement. Lets hope this doesnt happen again. if so then :suicide:
FUCKING HELL PIECE OF SHIT I got the replacement motherboard, still have the same problem. Putting another CPU in to see if that works [editline]09:12PM[/editline] no error Beeps either, I have no idea what the hell is wrong with it.
Probably another DOA motherboard.Unless its your CPU?Anyway to check that?
Probably another DOA motherboard.Unless its your CPU?Anyway to check that?
Checking now, will report back with update. I cant be that unlucky to get another DOA mobo
Checking now, will report back with update. I cant be that unlucky to get another DOA mobo
3rd Time?
Installed my old dual core same thing, just nothing :crying::crying::crying::crying:
Get a psu checker and see if the 24 pin is dead?
The PSU was working fine, I had it running on my system before I put the new mobo in. I tried my old mobo + CPU, that didnt work either got a beep aswell, but i tried different combinations (different graphcis cards/ram) and it stopped beeping, Nothing is making sence. if it doesnt work when i work on it again on friday im gonna just send it all back and get a prebuilt and chuck my graphics card in there as I need a decent pc for my college work (game design/coding/video editing/game creation source sdk/unreal editor/fpsc)
