I'm a huge ME fan but I don't expect much from this
Remember the feeling of wonder from 1?
Remember the feeling of wonder from 1?
While I can certainly say ME2 and ME3 dramatically improved the combat, ME1 will remain my favorite Mass Effect purely because of that feeling.

Judging from the vaguely humanoid protagonist shape, I guess sequel is somewhat out of the question.
Just make a prequel to Mass Effect 1 and make it more like Dragon Age Origins. By that I mean just allow us to pick whatever species we want for the main character with many background options instead of a single shitty asinine character.
So... can we actually see that concept art somewhere? I feel like a retard having to squint at a picture of some guy's computer monitor.

It was kind of tolerable if you specced into lower cooldowns but it was nowhere near as fun as the unstoppable pain train that was the ME1 adept.

Playing Adept with the global cooldown was impossible without getting most of the cooldown-reducing abilities.

I like Mass Effect 1, but it's still the worst game in the series in my opinion. Why? Because of the terribly unrefined gameplay, awful sound management and clumsy quests. People tend to complain about ME3's plotholes, but let's not forget ME1 had a couple of them too. My favourite is ME2 still.
I'm a huge ME fan but I don't expect much from this
I think it's waaay too early to have a sense of how the next ME game could turn out. Let's hope for the best, I wasn't (too) disappointed with ME3.

I mean just the fact that you could land on unexplored worlds and drive around in the Mako was fucking fantastic (sure, they were pretty bland and empty, but... at least they gave you the fucking option to explore the galaxy hands on and it made the place feel fantastically large and interesting). The soundtrack was fucking fantastic in my opinion and the plot was the strongest in the series (ME2 suffered from the typical issues that the middle of a trilogy does and ME3... well, ME3 was ME3). Also, Wrex. Wrex. Wrex! God, I'm having so many feels reminiscing about ME1 right now. Fuck, gotta play through it again soon.

In 5 minutes they crushed expectations that people have been built over 5 years. It's not like it's hard to make a happy ending, but goddamn did they try to screw up on that one.
I still feel that ME1 is the best for many reasons, though one of them could simply be the dialogue with Sovereign and Vigil. I mean those two conversations just holy shit.
I still feel that ME1 is the best for many reasons, though one of them could simply be the dialogue with Sovereign and Vigil. Mass Effect's always had abysmal gameplay and amazing background lore in my opinion, it just started getting worse when mass effect 2 and 3 instead of doing a complete from-scratch overhaul of how the game played, went for just a small upgrade with nothing really amazing behind it. They had three whole damn games to improve the combat system but by the end of ME3 it's still a shitty, clumsy mess that's unattractive and unappealing. And they tried to make a MP mode out of it.
I really like playing the MP, it's a very short burst-y game but I enjoy it even now.
i've never played a mass effect game, should i buy ME 1?
i've never played a mass effect game, should i buy ME 1?
Do it. You will never regret your decision.
ME1 for best use of xylophone in video game music.
If someone doesn't here's something to help them remember
Fucking shivers down my spine, going to have to reinstall that game, maybe if I play it enough I'll get the bad taste from ME3 out of my mind. Seriously, the setting of ME1 blew my mind despite it being so down-to-earth compared to most SciFi. I wish it hadn't gone down the shitter quite so spectacularly in the story department.

MAIN REACTOR SHUTDOWN IN ACCORDANCE WITH EMERGENCY CONTAINMENT PROCEDURES. MANUEL RESTART REQUIRED.") 2) generic/ugly and repetitive sounds all the time (i.e. gunshots) 3) dialogue volume not always adjusted (i.e. a certain conversation with Garrus on the Normandy) 4) enemies repeating the same damn thing all the time ("ENEMIES EVERYWHERE!" "GO, GO, GO!" "ENEMIES EVERYWHERE!" "I WILL DESTROY YOU!!!") 5) Music starting violently out of nowhere, for no reason, completely inappropriate, and fading away a few seconds later (a couple of this happen on Feros) 6) the music in some cutscenes is terribly compressed for no reason, while it's not in other cutscenes 7) random ridiculously ugly/inappropriate short music cues when you achieve an objective throughout the entire game 8) some alien dialogues have not been modified to make the voice sound alien like it should have been (referring to Garrus and Tali here, no voice filter in some parts) 9) some music tracks are repeated way too often... (like when exploring planets with the Mako or on the Normandy) 10) ...meanwhile, 25 tracks, still found in the game files, are never heard a single time in-game (including 6 original themes). I mean, you can fuck up bad... but forget to include in the game no less than 25 music tracks? That's a whole new level of fucking up. Especially when the music is so good. Good thing the sound department did an excellent job with ME2 and 3.
I liked ME3. Great game, just the end wasn't great.
I really like playing the MP, it's a very short burst-y game but I enjoy it even now.
The multiplayer was one of the few things they did right in 3.
Mass Effect 1 will forever be one of my favorite singleplayer games. I played a bit of ME2 but got bored of it. It just didn't have that amazing "feeling" you got from ME1.
First picture, what is he doing ? The controller is not even turned on and he's looking at the windows desktop. "Let's pretend I'm playing an early prototype of Mass Effect 4, let's start the hype !"
Mass Effect 1 was terribly unpolished, but one thing it did have was atmosphere. Whenever I play ME1 I always get this feeling of vastness and wonder and it's absolutely amazing.
ME1 is unrefined, clunky, ugly, and the best game in the series Why they sacrificed the story and experience to make it an action series when the gunplay isn't even good is beyond me 2 and 3 felt like Hollywood, whereas 1 felt like a video game
