I don't even see how it's physically possible to beat a game as long as Half Life in less than an hour, even with the video evidence right freaking there.
Exploit everything.
that's a TAS so the WR isn't really being smashed
This is simply incredible to watch

so was the previous record

The last one was too, tool assisted or not it's still quite the accomplishment. Plus the tools used weren't too ridiculous.
Wait, I'm sorry, what glitch caused him to get 4500 HP? Damn.

He got stuck on a door, the kinda glitch that usually killed me when I played Half-Life 1

Did he seriously end with 1HP. Jesus.
That was beautiful. That speedrun was a piece of art

If I was doing that and I died I would of probably smashed my pc up
Gordon Freeman: The Orange Blur.

They split the run into segments, its not done in one sitting
Getting the last part as quick as possible without dying probably took hundreds of attempts

Do you mean Nihilanth or the entirety of Xen? With Nihilanth it's extremely easy to avoid damage. If you mean the entirety of Xen, then yeah, you're right, this whole thing took 3 years of work afterall so each level probably has at least 100 attempts on it.
mods that give speed and jump boost for a speed run
The Source version of Half-Life has removed the ability to bunyhop, but by using mods the team were able to exploit bunnyhopping to their benefit.
They don't run the source version, its just got patched in an update at some point.
The Source version of Half-Life has removed the ability to bunyhop, but by using mods the team were able to exploit bunnyhopping to their benefit. The Bunnymod Pro mod also adds HUD elements to aid the speedrunner, which you can see in action in the video.
The wording is really dumb, I wonder if the author realizes that none of this has anything to do with HL:S.

The PCGamesN people actually read facepunch, so they probably do now.

Ever heard of bunnyhopping? No? Then look it up and learn.
You’ll notice that the video contains a lot of ‘bunnyhopping’, a technique that’s used a lot in speedrunning but normally frowned upon in general gaming.
I've never really noticed anyone frowning upon.
I was hungover this morning and watching this made me feel sick
This video made me remember how much Xen was when we first saw it.
I want someone to edit the video so it sounds like freeman is just panicking and screaming the whole time starting from when the experiment goes awry.
that's a TAS so the WR isn't really being smashed
thats technically not a tas
thats technically not a tas

isnt a script a tool though? (this whole point is stupid)
did you ever play cs 1.6 in the early days?
if so then you would've seen it
Ever heard of bunnyhopping? No? Then look it up and learn.
They still needed to use a mod to get bunnyhopping working.
