Hello, I've been buying a few parts for my piece of crap computer, and I've run into a problem: all the parts I have are functional together except the case, and the power supply I have. The problem -besides the case- is I can't find power supply with an 8 Pin CPU power connector. Another thing, I'd like a suggestion on which manufacturer to buy a videocard from between ATI and Nvidia, I've heard they are both good for different things, but am unsure which I should buy from. The purpose for this PC is for gaming and videogame level design (using hammer editor).
A list of parts I got are here:
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws, 16 GB, DDR3 (2 sticks)

CPU: AMD FX-4170, AM3+, Quad Core, 4.2 GHz

Motherboard: ASUS M5A99X AM3+

Power Supply: Antec 750W Continuous Power Supply

if anyone could help my find a power supply under $140, and a cause below $160 that would fit my parts please help out.
CPU: Get an Intel I3 or I5 3570k instead of that AMD FX4170. AMD currently has no high performance CPU's that can even come close to intel's. (And compatible mobo)
MOBO: Well an 1155 socket mobo, I reccomend the Asrock Z77 extreme 3.
GPU: ATI is called AMD now. And both AMD and Nvidia make quality GPU's, and which one is best for you kinda depends on your budget.
PSU: 500W is enough.
RAM: I would consider going down to 8 gb (if your budget is below 1000$). Because you will not notice the extra 8 gb.
here is the problem, I already have the parts. I just need help finding an PSU with an 8 pin CPU power connector.
the power supply you claim to have already has an 8 pin CPU power connector, so I don't get it
The keys are either installed wrong on the power supply, or I have to cut off the clip one of them that holds it to the slot. Because a a group of capacitors is blocking it if I didn't cut it. its 2 x 2 Pin connectors. Thus, adding up to four, obviously.
are you sure you know what you're doing because the motherboard and PSU both look pretty standard, there's co capacitors in the way that the clip's supposed to face.
you're supposed to combine the two 2x2 CPU pins together so they latch and then insert it.

also, you could even just use the single 4 pin one as explained in the motherboard manual if connecting them is too hard
Alright thanks, I'll look into it. I had guessed I could just use one single 4 pin because only one side of the slot had a notch for the connector to lock on. Geez, I haven't built a computer in so long. It's like I have no idea what I'm doing again -.-
