Not sure where this goes, but whatever.
I spilled soda on my keyboard and dealt with it so. Now I'm finding annoying. Can anyone think of a way to remove it?
Edit: Looks like people think this is a desktop computer, this is a laptop.
I threw mine in my pool.
Not kidding. I let it dry and it worked fine. It's a G510.
Run it through the Dishwasher with no soap.
then let it dry for at least 24 hours
I took all the keys out of mine and put them in a plastic milk bottle with soapy hot water in and shook that about
The other part i got a scrubbing brush on with hot water.
Worked a treat and the keyboard was like new.
Asuming it's a rubber dome keyboard (which is probably is unless you specifically KNOW it's a mechanical), open it up and remove the electronics, usually there's a small circuit board where the usb cable goes in and it has some contacts which go onto a large plastic sheet. Just remove the circuit board and then reassemble the rest of the keyboard it just as it was. After that, put the curcuit board and any lose screws in a safe place and run the rest in the dishwasher with no soap or just soak it in hot water in the sink or tub or whatever for anything up to an hour, then let it dry overnight and reassemble, should work like a charm. Also when you put the circuit board back, i really recommend cleaning the contacts with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip. Rubbing alcohol is basically pure isopropyl alcohol that dissolves grease and oils like nobody's business. Clean contacts when you reassemble ensures flawless operation.
Remove circuit board and membrane, then run the rest through a dishwasher / clean out manualy.
I got some water in my G15 once and it took like 2 days to get it working. I had to disassemble it and manually dry out all of the water that was trapped between the membrane layers.
I spilled hot chocolate into my Blackwidow. You need to act quickly, while it's still liquid and not a sticky mess. I quickly disconnected the keyboard from my computer, brought it to the laundry sink and flushed it with water. I took it apart, popped off the keys (It's a mechanical keyboard, so the keys are attached to the switches), and aimed a fan at the board before going to school. I came back, reassembled it and it worked.
If you leave the soda in the keyboard long enough for the water in it to evaporate, you're left with a sugary, sticky goo that's much more difficult to remove. If it's a cheaper, rubber dome keyboard (Basically every keyboard unless you specifically bought a mechanical), then you could probably try taking it apart and running the parts through the rinse cycle on a dishwasher a few times. Don't run it through the drying cycle, since the heating elements can melt the plastic and rubber.
I've done the same, I washed it in the shower and let it dry for 24 hours, it works too!

Just do what is sensible.

laptop keyboards can pop off easily, you just have to undo a few screws or pop off a piece of plastic, dfepending on the model. Take it off, wash it with water and let it dry for a long time, then wipe the laptop part with a damp / wet cloth.
I took mine apart, removed the keys then hosed it in the back yard :v:
