I'm planning on building a new PC with the parts here:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127615 - GPU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128543 - Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314 - Memory
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072 - CPU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139020 - Power Supply
A friend of mine has the same build other than the GPU and is running recent games smoothly (70-100 ) however he just got the build recently.
I'm considering getting these parts now since they're pretty decently priced or waiting for the christmas sales to get more expensive parts (GTX 680, Ivy Bridge)
opinions?
Why not GTX 660 for $40 more?
Alright I switched out for a 660: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127696
Good otherwise?
i5-3570k
I was considering an Ivy Bridge but I'm most likely just gonna with Sandy bridge because of its overclock rate.
they can both oc the same
Why wait till christmas for an ivy bridge, it's literally 10 bucks more, and its way better. RAM is a good deal with that mobo, I have that RAM (the Ares one that comes with the mobo) and it's really nice.
Quick question, Red RAM with a blue Mobo?
why?

I find color coordination important, which is why I'm going for a red and black build for my next PC, but perhaps he's not as particular.

Sandy Bridge does run cooler than Ivy Bridge, but tit for tat, Ivy Bridge overclocks better.

Plus, it isn't expensive to get a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO.

That motherboard comes with free RAM though? what are you doing that needs 16 GB RAM?
Also, Seriously get an ivy, as someone else mentioned it's literally $10 more.

I bought a 212 EVO with my build. I have never gone over 40C+ yet.

Didn't notice the free RAM until earlier so I am just gonna get that. And yes I am gonna get an EVO.
So 3570k it is if you're going with an EVO too.
Here's the finished build:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128543 - Mobo
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139020 - PSU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099 - Hyper 212 EVO
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127696 - GPU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119225 - Case
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504 - CPU
You should seriously consider another case. I have it and it weighs about x2 more than normal cases. I do small LANs every other week so it's even worse.
(it has good airflow though)
Yeah man you're spending way too much on a case for your budget anyways. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139008
Unless you are planning on stuffing your cat in there to take advantage of the warmth, you don't appear to need a full tower. A mid tower will be quite sufficient.
Switched out that case for http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811139008.
