I honestly wasn't expecting too much to be excited for since I own the first seven titles, but the gameplay honestly is so amazing, which goes along with the beefed up visuals and music. It's a beautiful combination of easy-for-new-players-to-adapt-to and complex-enough-to-interest-veterans without having the items be too chaotic in influence. Literally the only flaw I can really feel from it, other than some peculiar roster filler choices, is that the battle mode is subpar due to the map choices (which are just copies of racetracks rather than dedicated arenas), but the grand prix and vs makes up for that.
It also currently is tied with Mario Kart: Super Circuit for most tracks in a Mario Kart game but is set to have #1 all to itself when the second DLC arrives in May, can't wait!
