• This a good build?

http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=18102728 Subtotal: $485.86 This is a build I'm not completely set on buying, but I might if I can get a hold of a little more cash. I'm not really going to play games on it, maybe some Source games so I'd like to be able to run them on Med-High (I never turn on AA, I never really notice it) on a decent resolution comfortably, but I don't need a speed demon. Mostly, I want to be able to run HD movies on Youtube and such without my computer crying for me to stop. I already have a gaming computer but I want a second computer since there are multiple people in this household. My budget is what I have right there, I mainly want to see if there's anything I'm forgetting, any better deals, incompatibilities, etc. Some things I want you to remember are the RAM, Mobo and CPU are on a combo deal where I can save 26 dollars, the case comes with a PSU (and if it fails, I can just get a new one, the case itself isn't too expensive) The fans are there because they're cheap, getting good reviews and I might as well put them on my other computer. There's a small chance I can just not buy a monitor, it's not official, but my sister might take it so I put down a monitor just in case. The OS is completely covered though. I'm mainly using this for watching movies and internet so if I can't get Windows 7, I'll just get Ubuntu or something.
so whats the gfx card?
Gigabyte Radeon 4350.

don't use the PSU that comes with the case unless you're planning on using this build as a paperweight
don't use the PSU that comes with the case unless you're planning on using this build as a paperweight
What do you recommend?

Took that PSU, changed the RAM, Mobo and CPU, dumped the fans, monitor, and headset, but I'm keeping the speakers.
there's a good kiwi fruit really do try and get something better than a 4350 if you want to be playing games of any kind
there's a good kiwi fruit really do try and get something better than a 4350 if you want to be playing games of any kind
The most advanced game I'm probably going to play is a Source game TF2 or maybe L4D, and even then, it's not really important to run it at all high or anything. As long as I can get a decent FPS with a decent resolution, I'm fine.
4350 will get raped by tf2 it's for watching movies, not playing games

Alright. I think I have it down.
Get a 500GB instead of a 250GB, they're $5 more for twice the storage. I know, I know "but I'll never use that much space!" You will. I would suggest saving another $100 up and getting a midrange gaming rig that will run every game on the market right now. There might not be games that you want right now, but in the future, they will come along, and that 4670 is already outdated.

This good? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161319 Also, about getting a 500GB HD, I forgot to mention that I have a 1TB external.
It's only $10 more for a 4850 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131162&cm_re=ati_4850-_-14-131-162-_-Product [editline]05:33PM[/editline] Which is considerably faster
But both cards can run all the games I play at max well and mine's cheaper. Why buy speed that I don't need?
$10 more.. seriously? Not all Source games will run flawlessly maxed out on a 5670.
my 4850 is a great little card, max out source games 4xAA great
It's just more bang for the buck, and a little bit extra speed is always welcome, especially when it comes to GPU's and games that evolve really fast...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814143118 Save some money when this comes back in stock it is an awesome deal.
Could be cheaper. You don't need the mouse and speaker system.
Could be cheaper. You don't need the mouse and speaker system.
says who? [editline]02:28PM[/editline] oh, you did, not OP :downs:
How am I supposed to do mouse things like navigate menus without a mouse?
my 4850 is a great little card, max out source games 4xAA great
What are you doing wrong? With an x3 2.7GHz and my 4850, I can max out Source games completely with 16xAA (EVERYTHING maxed out) at 1280x1024 and maintain 60 fps easily.
Doesn't look like that mouse is worth 10 dollars. If you are really on a budget, you can probably save some more on the speakers as well. And I hate to save it... But you can probably save money on the powersupply too.
