And as usual, Capcom is going to interpret this as the fans wanting another shitty action game.
Here's some quick suggestions for fixing the next game: 1.) Don't force coop. If you're going to add it, allow drop-in drop-out without AI. The AI kills the whole atmosphere. RE5 would've actually had some spooky parts if Sheva (or Chris depending on who you played as) weren't there the whole time. Like later in the marsh area when you're collecting things to get into a village or some shit, I forget. There's a part where there's absolutely nothing trying to kill you as you walk up to get whatever you're up there to get, and the absolute deadness would be a great everything-is-creepy-as-hell moment. 2.) Stick with RE4/RE5/Revelations control schemes. Never go back to RE6. Even though the freedom of movement was nice, the ability to get away as easily as you could wasn't the best design decision. or if you want some guaranteed sales, remake some of the old Resident Evils. People bought the new REmake, they're probably going to buy REmake 2/3/other non-main games like Code Veronica. I just really don't feel like it should be this difficult for Capcom to understand. They've got options, but they aren't taking any of them.
And as usual, Capcom is going to interpret this as the fans wanting another shitty action game.
Some people like the action-y resident evil games. Just because it started out as a survival horror series doesn't mean it always has to be one, lots of people loved RE4 and DMC, and they've made survival horror Resident evil games in the past. Just recently they did a remaster of RE1 again and Revelations 1.
What I really want to see, like gk99 suggested, is a 2/3/Survivor/CV port and remaster. Not one or the other but both in one and the same release. It's been years since 2 or 3 has even been hinted at aside from individual reviews or comparisons between the old vs new games. Capcom really needs to do what they said they were going to do when they announced RE:REV2: LISTEN TO THE FUCKING FANS. Those who play the games know what they want, at least to some degree. I wouldn't want a game thats tailored to me because I'd know how to beat it and it'd be boring, but a game that has elements that I'd expect from a certain series would almost certainly keep me on my toes, which I think is what the fans are actually asking for. Not all this action-y shit that keeps getting thrown out there with a "Oh boy, we've done some awesome stuff with the next installment, we know you'll love it" excuse. If these SOBs can't get it right they need to go back and remaster some stuff, then maybe while they are doing that, it'll hit them that these are the types of RE games we really want.
IMO Rev2 is the best game in the series since Resident Evil 4. It strikes a nice balance between action horror and the older style RE games.
However, even for relatively short episodic game, Revelations 2 seems strangely unfinished. Monsters get stuck on walls and objects, and there's no sense of when an ability is active. There's no special animation for the running knife attack, I could never get my charge attack to work, and there's no way to know when the temporary invincibility is active.
Half of this paragraph is pretty much just wrong. In my game I've never had any glitches with AI but whatever, the only "abilities" are ones that increase your stats and their descriptions very clearly define when they're actually active. There absolutely is an animation for the running knife attack and the gun charge shot (assuming that's what he's referring to) is extremely simple, I don't see how could anyone could possibly "not get it to work".
I'm on the side of people who consider this the best RE game since 4. It has slight issues(Like that whole local coop issue on PC, which was fixed quickly, and lack of online coop) but unlike RE5 I can actually play this single player because of the character swap button(Something RE5 and RE6 had absolutely no reason to not have) instead of relying on an idiot AI to do everything. And isn't the melee charged attack just the Revelations 1 melee system? I haven't gotten that skill yet but that's what it sounds like.
