You know, I used to really love the whole "gamer-targeted hardware" thing, but as I get older, I realize how silly and toyish it looks. I'd much rather have something like the Ducky Mini, which does have the customizable backlighting but looks clean and sharp, rather than like something off the Nerf rack at Walmart.
Then again, my laptop, phone, watch, bluetooth keyboard, and bluetooth mouse are all slabs of metal or glass, so maybe I'm spoiled. I just tend to gravitate toward cleaner designs these days.
I don't understand RGB keyboards at all.
like I get how led keys can be useful when you need to press a button in a dark room but when I got my corsair k70 the first thing I did was turn off the leds
I keep my keyboard LEDs on but I wouldn't want multicolored LEDs, don't need an explosion of color on my desk 24/7. Then again my keyboard (Corsair k70) and headset (Logitech G930) are my only "flashy" gaming gear pieces, and even then they aren't XxXMLG420$$YOLOXxX flashy.

I think it's for gaming, so you can have different sets of keys lit in different colors for organizational purposes.
I can kind of see the use, I just don't find it at all attractive
I think they went a bit over the top with this one personally. Though I do REALLY like their G710+

I also had the G15 back in the day as well, but I thought they hit a great balance with having 6 macro keys rather than 20 or something the G15 had which was a bit nuts. The G710+ is pretty damn simple in comparison to the G910 and I'd highly recommend it if you're looking for a logitech gaming keyboard. I've fallen in love with macro keys since the G15 and I use them a ton for my work. Plus the cherry MX brown's are pretty damn nice, at first I thought I wouldn't like them coming from Cherry Blues but I now prefer browns.
honestly it's way too distracting, most of us don't even look at our keyboards 90% of the time anyways
When I was shopping for a mechanical keyboard last year I had to go with the CM Storm Quickfire XT in MX Blues

Brilliant Keyboard without any of the extra gaymur BS

I have my keyboard LEDs on so I can see them because I never turn my light on. It's all green (because I got mine before blue LEDs were widely available) except for WASD and the arrow keys, which are red so I can realign my fingers on them without looking fully at my hand.
Going full multicolour does look ridiculous though.

Yeah the 710 is an excellent balance of design quality and features you might actually use without being flashy and for an okay price.
Had a 710+ and within 2 weeks the bottom LED light row broke for no fucking reason.
Even the 710 is too much for me. I like my WASD board, and I'd get a Coolermaster Quickfire too. Past that there aren't many I'd get that are affordable.

I went for a Das Keyboard 4 for the same reason.

So many companies these days give their products 20 macro keys you'll never use, 'cool' angular designs and fully customisable backlighting so you can make every key a slightly different shade of red, I don't need any of that, just give me a good, quality keyboard.

I got this razer one for a great price. Great keyboard
Meh, kaihua switches and razer build quality and support.
Sticking with my Das Keyboard. Fucking love this thing -- it's indestructible. <3
This is what mine currently looks like, though it is not mine. As much as I said I like a clean look, I'm a sucker for black on white.

The price of their G710 can get you 2 CM Storm keyboards, why not just spend it on that instead?

I got the same model. What bugged me so much about the mechanical keyboard market is that the ones you'd find are typically flashy and ugly and use an outdated techno aesthetic. My friend told me about DasKeyboard, and it made me go "...Damn, that's actually fantastic."
It doesn't try any bullshit, it just gives you a solid keyboard.
Still waiting for more Optimus Maximus variants.

Shit was h-h-h-h-h-hot, but so expensive.
