• Re-installing windows, need help

I decided to reinstall windows due to various problems(viruses, etc), and I've run into a little problem. Maybe I'm just impatient, but the process seems to be taking entirely too long. It's on a screen where it says it's installing windows, and that there is approx. 32 minutes remaining, except for the fact that it's said that for the past 24 hours, literally. It doesn't appear to be locked up or anything, so I'm afraid to shut it off for fear of screwing it up permanently, but also worried that it might never come out of this state. Does this normally take this long, or am I just expecting too much?
Yes that is quite some time. Never took more than an hour for me.. And I'm 95% sure no matter what you do to screw up windows, it's always re-format-able.
So then....should I just start over, or what?..
Well it obviously isn't going anywhere; you can't hurt it more than it is now.
Ok now this error popped up saying there was memory that could not be written. Wtf? *edit* ok so after that box popped up again, I decided to just click ok to terminate the program. After that, it went through the entire installation without error. It's just that when I started my computer up again, it hadn't changed anything. Honestly, it was like nothing had happened at all.
