What is that series of short scaryish stories from around maybe 2005 called?

It's an internet thing, not actual books. It might have even been some kind of thing where each chapter is written by submissions rather than the same writer. Each chapter involved the main character having to follow overly complicated directions, usually involving them going to hotels/hospitals/etc in dark spooky locations, having to say some kind of password, and then go to some hidden underground place to find maybe a map or key I don't recall.
They went something like this.
"You are to go to the hotel on Washington Street, do not look directly into the eyes of the person at the counter, repeat the following phrase exactly, if you make a mistake then you will meet an unspeakable fate. They will lead you to a door, you are to knock in a triangular pattern, and it will open automatically. After this, take the third door on the left, and go down two flights of stairs. You will enter a long dark hallway with seemingly no end and with no doors on either side. Follow this, you will hear footsteps behind you, and breathing. Do not under any circumstances turn around, no matter how frightened you are. Doing so will result in a terrible death."
Urban Legends?

They may generally be called creepypastas, but I guess that's not what you're looking for
Not sure if it was a creepypasta. It was it's own website i think. IIRC, it had something about "keepers" in the title, or maybe it was seekers?
