From the sounds of it, it's more focused on troops being able to carry heavy gear. Understandable, having larger weapons such as Javelins be more portable is a definite upside.
E: wait it says they already have those and these are an improvement on that.
Guy on the right looks like he's from Starship Troopers.

Awesome movie ( First one of course ) and I would have no issue with our troops looking like that.
I wanna see one of those currently in-service exoskeletons. Either they confused them with those big complicated mounts soldiers have for backpacks, or DARPA figured out how to power a hydraulic/electric exoskeleton for a reasonable time with a source that the wearer can carry.

Suits have speakers built in that plays Starship Troopers music as they fight.

Still, we're probably a ways away from troops having heavy armour suits that are impervious to all but the most potent of armour penetrating rounds, since in this day and age we retain the emphasis on light infantry, with light having the emphasis on being agile and never getting hit in the first place, rather than sustaining a hit via heavy armour at the cost of being slower than the average light infantryman.
Question is, would heavily-armoured infantry, aka a person in an exosuit that's essentially a tank with legs, be a viable asset on the modern battlefield, or would it just be an expensive rocket magnet that gets dunked by RPGs and anti-material rifles the second it thunders onto the battlefield like a big chrome rhino?

I'm getting some serious Imperial Guardsmen vibes from the uniform on the right.

Oh, i dunno, maybe because these suits could be adapted to the civilian market after the military fixes all the bugs and whatnot. These things would be very useful for search & rescue ops, or for handling large, heavy and/or dangerous ítems.
The military is a dirty thing, but god damn it funds some amazing shit. Like the internet.

And what happens when some straight up evil faction pops up again and starts killing millions like in WW2? What if they decide to attack our cities and the numorous civilians in them? Shall we say fuck the armed forces then too?
This is awesome. At least, it will be until someone wearing this dies and it falls into enemy hands and is used against us.
But hey, until that happens it's awesome.
Will it include the Ironman Backpack?
