I'm just waiting for pressure sensitive keyboards so we can finally control movement speed without modifiers, then it'll be superior in every way.

Yep, why this hasn't become a thing by now is beyond me.

i need my clickety clackety
I'm just waiting for pressure sensitive keyboards so we can finally control movement speed without modifiers, then it'll be superior in every way.
So would that mean you could type in all caps if you hit the keys really hard? :v:
Yep, why this hasn't become a thing by now is beyond me.
because the method of operating keys isn't functionally designed for pressure sensitivity? try taking an xbox controller and pressing just the triggers like you would a keyboard button. it's uncomfortable and pretty hard to keep a consistent level of pressure that isn't all the way down or not at all.

I figure it'd be too unfeasible to do all the keys, but that's a pretty good idea. Damn, I want that.
Pressure sensitive keys sound awkward - you'd carefully try to push down buttons that barely even move.
[editline]edit[/editline]
Or actually they would be more like the pressure sensitive buttons Ps2 & 3 controllers have, they click down and then you apply more pressure. But I'm not sure how I feel about those either (they were removed from Ps4 controllers after all).

Even if we had pressure sensitive keys, there would still be some game genres that just don't work on keyboard. Platformers, Racing games and Fighting games all play terribly on keyboard, and there's no changing that.
Pressure sensitive keys sound awkward - you'd carefully try to push down buttons that barely even move.
How about one that triggers the pressure sensitive part just when you extra press the key after it's engaged? Like these pressure sensitive touchpads.
Edit:
And i don't mean one that goes extra down, you wouldn't even notice you had the pressure sensitive part if nobody told you.
Yep, why this hasn't become a thing by now is beyond me.
It lacks the software support so no companies want to make a product that's more expensive = less price competitive. Meanwhile no one wastes time implementing software support because there are no products to target it to.
TopRe has announced a keyboard with pressure sensitivity(slated for 2016), but i doubt it'll actually work in any games without patches or some hacky joystick simulation, and it's very different from the usual Cherry MX switches
:snip:

Fighting games are bearable on keyboard setup since you got all (presumably) 6 buttons under 3 fingers instead of two on the controller

Twin-stick shooters would also be pretty terrible on a keyboard.
Other than FPS and RTS games, most games aren't that great with a keyboard.

Haha, no good fighting game player uses anything pressure sensitive or analog.
Hell, there's a thing called a hitbox that can easily be replicated on a keyboard(asd space for movement)

[del]Sucks if you want to jump though :v:[/del]
My god, he wrote SPACE, I shouldn't post as soon as I get up.
How about building a piano key trigger onto the key boards on top or better yet, a pressure sensitive mouse buttons? why haven't anyone build that yet?
Also, why exactly would fighting games play terribly on keyboard? Only reason I can see is ghosting in rare cases.
my goddamn merge. :c

Twin stick shooters using wasd and mouse are okay, the hell you sayin

Take a PS2 controller and push the X button. It's just a regular button. But it's also pressure sensitive. Worked great in GT4 for throttle

now place it on the table and try to press it half way in with your index, middle, ring, or pinky fingers.

What? I own a PS2 for 5 years already, how come i didn't know this?
Mouse and keyboard is horrifying because you actually have to use effort and skill in shooters
Aren't MS making xbone games compatible with a M+K? As in plugging them straight into the console.

Doing 720s is harder on keyboards, other than that, there's no problems.

I don't think it would be anything complicated to implement or make work with a bit of use. I hated my G500 and how I had to hold my thumb to hit the buttons on the side, but I got used to it

Not just X. All of them are. Just as an example
They've just gone ahead and revealed this during their gamescom press conference

Controllers really are better for some things
