I just bought mirrors edge on steam and it is virtually unplayable.
The problem is with insane stuttering in the main menu and game. the beginning videos play alright but when i hit the in game menu the whole thing just stutters around at like 1 frame per second even with all settings turned down as low as possible.
I have a decent pc and i should be able to play this (pretty sure i meet the sys requirements)
can anyone help me diagnose or fix this problem?
Specs:
Intel Pentium dual core CPU E5300 @ 2.60GHz
2GB ram
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3
ATI Radeon 4830 512MB
uhmm just to be sure, you don't have physx enabled for the game do you?
I'm not sure if it tries to emulate physx on the cpu but if it does... well it's not going to get far with a pentium dual core.
Nah I made sure I disabled it.
Anything forced within the ATI Catalyst Control Center?
And as normal, are you running up to date drivers?
literally just updated my drivers. and I think I have anti-aliasing on and some anisotropic filtering. but only 2x for each.

ah wow ok so it must have been my drivers. silly of me to make the thread before finishing the update on my drivers. it seems to be working now.
Yeah that's a pretty big problem, I'm guessing you installed new drivers, but didn't restart afterward?
