The first one by far. The GPU's better (as far as I know, I looked at a couple of comparisons), and the processor is a lot better.

No, on that laptop the GPU and CPU are matched, meaning if you got it with an i5 you'd be bottlenecking on the GPU.

I would agree with that argument if OP was trying to spend +1k on a gaming laptop, but that isn't the case.

And Acer laptops aren't that bad, personally. Not amazing, but not bad either.

If you included a decent 1080p screen, my laptop was not far off the cost of a similar performance desktop.
I can undo two screws and upgrade my processor, ram and two hard drives.

GPU's and CPU's fpor laptops are:
1:rare or non existand
2:wont work with the psu
3:Extreemly overpriced
4:Unusable with the mobo, or bios version
5:To hot for the cooling
5 etc etc.
Upgrading a CPU or GPU on a laptop isnt viable 90% of the time.

I will agree with that with most consumer laptops (90%), but then again most consumers do not need to upgrade, they will buy a new laptop when its life expires.
If you are setting any kind of money on a high performance laptop however, there are brands which will upgrade just fine (Clevo, MSI).
Although it is not easy to find a laptop at OP's price range that allows for this, and for that price range you would be able to get a better desktop, OP has said that he wants a laptop so lets not have this argument again.
It's just annoying how facepunch seems to wet its pants when someone wants to buy a laptop.
