Calling all networking Facepunchers: Home Network problem.

Hi. I'm having an absolute nightmare with my home network lately - and I can't for the life of me figure out the problem.
See the poorly drawn, internet tool'd diagram below for reference.

I have a very, very simple setup as you can see. Now, first off I want you to imagine the switch in this diagram is a Powerline ethernet adapter (one on the router side too.) There are 2 hosts connected via a single Powerline adapter, into a single RJ-45 Ethernet port on the router. The problem is that the router keeps restarting. My theory is that because there are 2 hosts on a single connection, it's acting as a collision domain and causing the router to enter "Ohshit mode", and thus restart itself. However, it only ever seems to happen when I video call on Skype - at least the most often. It drops at least 20 times a day without the use of Skype.
What I've tried so far:
- Changing Skype's uPnP settings + allowing/disallowing port 80 to be used.
- As above with the routers control panel.
- Restarting the router (Don't laugh, it's generic but a first step).
- Disabling one of the two hosts. (This pretty much voids my collision domain theory, and I'm fairly lost from now).
- Changing Ethernet ports.
- Port forwarded the Skype port
The router spits out only a single error in it's log, and that's merely that it can't establish a DSL connection to the exchange... At least the first 125 times it tries.
If any of you could shed any light, it'd be much appreciated.
Try disconnecting the powerline adapter and see if restarts with only wireless clients.
It could also just be a firmware bug, see if there's an update for your router or check if dd-wrt supports your router.

Sadly, there's no DD-WRT support for it. There's also no firmware updates because AOL and DLINK are just that fantastic.
I'll let you know what happens with the powerline completely disconnected.
Update:
Disconnecting Powerline did nothing.
I've now factory reset the router, switched in brand new cables, changed DSL sockets and filter, etc. We'll see what happens.
Update 2:
Router no longer resets, but the connection to host 1 is dropped and re-established.
Update 3: Seems a little bit more stable, haven't tried Skype with it yet though.
Having two workstations connected to one port on the router shouldn't make any difference
You can have an entire 24 port switch connected to one lan port on your router and it wouldn't make a difference
I'm thinking it's a firmware issue with your router.
Can you provide the make & model?
Ah but switches are different, they're logical and use the header to determine where to send packets. I'd assume the powerline adapters work like hubs, and thus being one big collision domain.
The router is a D-LINK 2640-R. I can't find any firmware updates, and DD-WRT don't support this model.
