this is pretty terrible
I don't think there's a single part of this I wouldn't change
[editline]11th March 2011[/editline]
is this a hypothetical build or what because I won't waste my time on builds no one is going to buy

I dunno man, 12gigs of RAM is pretty ballin'
Just trying to see what is good and bad. Dont bash it; tell me what is so atrocious about it.

I need input
things that are wrong
-X58 even though sandy bridge is out
-rosewill PSU
-2GB 560 is pointless
-green drive for booting
-12GB RAM
-NZXT case
-way better heatsinks for this price, I mean holy shit you can get a NH-D14 for less
Cooler master case PSU and heatsink basically. At least a 7200 rpm non Green drive for booting. Get 4-6 gb of ram.
Green drives stop spinning when not accessed for some time this basically means every time you want to load something it has to spin back up.
If you're editing HD res video in Sony Vegas you might use 6 gb of ram. But I guess when you're buying a green drive the boot time would be terrible because it's loading the 12 gb of ram with everything you use so the harddrive doesn't need to do anything after so I guess that's a kinda funny quark in this build.
Before we help we need to know if this is actually a real build you intend to make, and what you will use it for, and what you can reuse.
Well it's a future build so he's never actually going to buy it I predict him buying a prebuilt because we basically told him everything he's chosen sucks on the cock.
I should have put this up but im want to use a 60GB ssd for booting and the green drive for storage. I plan on using this for gaming and what is wrong with the 2gb 560?
because more than 1GB VRAM isn't necessary unless you're running very high resolutions (e.g. eyefinity/surround) at which point the 560 doesn't perform well enough to be worth it
you're effectively paying more to have a number be higher
I wouldn't use a green drive as main storage with an SSD that small, with that budget you could get an SSD for the OS and very major programs, a 500GB spinpoint F3 for non-important programs that you still want decent load times on (e.g games) and a 1TB green drive for other/general storage
-NZXT case
It's a great case. If he likes the looks of it, I say go for it - looks much better than the average metal box or ricer shit. Completely unlike the quality of anything else NZXT have produced.
Only issue is the price.
a half decent case at a shit price is still not worth getting
What case do you recomend reapa? and what drive should i use for booting my os a ssd or hdd?
well first is this a serious build or just shits and giggles
[editline]11th March 2011[/editline]
even if you are making a build to actually buy, you say future which implies it you won't be buying it within the next week in which case this thread is still useless because new shit comes out all the time and prices change quickly
Give us a budget and we'll help pick parts
Ricer case
1st Gen Core i7 motherboard and CPU
triple-channel memory
Green drive
etc.
I don't think I've seen a NZXT case that didn't look like shit. Surprised they'd charge that much but then again ricers can't tell the difference between good and flashy, so it probably works out.
If you're going Core i7, get a new system. The SATA issue has been resolved and motherboards are coming back into stock. The new CPUs are better and the memory is back to dual-channel mode so it's not the same shit with a new, higher price-tag.
I doubt you need 12GB of memory. You'd be better off with 4GB for gaming. 8GB if you're finnicky.
Green hard drives are bad for just about everything but Network Storage. They never have decent warranties, they're more prone to failing due to them spinning down to conserve energy as much as possible. If you plan to store games on one, don't.
I'm not gonna say anything about the cooler. It's probably not worth $80 but I've never used it or seen it so I don't know how good it is.
Also, the power supply.
It's got 4 +12v rails, and it's more power than you need.
Have a look at these: 1234
I would recommend 4 if you're okay without modularity.

Can you suggest a new cpu then?
the way you refuse to answer makes me think you're wasting our time with your hypothetical fantasy build
The 2500K.

Should be around the same price and it's better overall.
Im sorry reapaninja I do plan on getting this by the summer or before so it is not hypothetical im just trying to fix it up. But then again i thank you for your help all.
Don't even think of a PC until the last couple weeks before you buy it.
