yes it's me again, hi. for the tl; dr, only read the bold the type of games i play are stuff like the new fallout new vagas, oblivion, fuel, dead rising bfbc2 left 4 dead 2.. lots of games from the last 5 years, and as some may know, i've been looking to get a laptop for xmas or in the sales that can play these games for less or equal to £900 and yes i know what your thinking, don't get a laptop get a desktop blah blah blah desktops are out of the question, because i travel alot anyway, if i get a laptop with the following specs, would it be enough to play the games listed above intel core i5/i7 4/6 gb RAM Nvidia 1/1.5gb graphics card 500gb HDD some people say yes, others, say that wont be able to play even stuff like morrorwind on lowest settings now i'm no computer buff but i need a second opinion people have also been saying
For a laptop that's capable of playing modern games at all, you'll need to spend perhaps twice that, the ones that can match a thousand pound desktop are all, and I mean ALL, above the four thousand pound mark. Alienware has probably the best range, and their machines excell at power and reliability, but they produce a horrid amount of heat-so much that you cant actualy position them upon your lap.

LOL you wont even be able to play morrorwind with something like that, dude go for alienware
can i get FP's second opinion please
Hell yeah it can play New Vagas. It would be better to just look at specific laptops instead of debating specs. There isn't that huge of a selection. What's your budget?

What GPU is that? Post full specs.
:frog:
to be fair, i was asking in the elitist forums
Does it have to be nVidia? ATI's range of mobile graphics cards are actually quite powerful as well. My friend has an HP dv6 with a 5670 that can max out almost all games before 2008, run everything else fine. That cost about $1200.
they are recommending you alienware....... gaming + laptops aren't the best combination. If you want to game, you get a desktop. If you travel a lot, get a laptop. If you want to do both, you'll just have to deal with the fact that the games will not run as fast as on a desktop.
What GPU is that? Post full specs.
oh stuff like GT 425M, GT 550 i dunno like i said, i am not good with computer
You'd be best with a custom desktop. I recommend looking into NVidia.
You'd be best with a custom desktop. I recommend looking into NVidia.
I'd recommend looking into whatever fits his budget.
My friend has an HP dv6 with a 5670
I have the exact same laptop model too :haw: Not exactly a gaming laptop, but it can play Fallout New Vegas and Battlefield bad company 2 smoothly. Just don't expect to be able to crank the eyecandy up to maximum.
You look at the system requirements on the game's box... Then you compare the requirements to your computers hardware. It's really not that difficult.
My year old quad core, 280m GTX Sli laptop begs to differ.
I bet that was way outta his price range when you bought it.

Check these out: http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Mobility-Radeon-HD-5650.23697.0.html Class 1 and upper half part of class 2 gpus can run any game smoothly
Just know your computer will run New Vegas theoretically, realistically it will crash and have glitches all the time, just like everyone else.

If you REALLY need Nvidia, get an Asus G73Jw or G53Jw, or Sager NP8760, or Sager NP8690. The Asus models have really good cooling, and an Nvidia GTX 460M 1.5GB
I bet that was way outta his price range when you bought it.
Ofc it was, I wasn't suggesting the OP buy this, I was merely counter stating BrQ's post saying laptops can't game.
I ran vegas on medium with my moms laptop, it had a 4350m
