People play a game for nearly two years and get good at it? How surprising.

Actually they've been playing this sort of game for like 7+ years now. The old iteration of the game is basically the same in terms of design.
But with that being said, most people could play this game for that many years and not get nearly as good as some of the people playing for 2 years. It really is quite impressive.
I wanna be the best at ramming balls with cars.
I took a break from playing it and trying to get back into it is so hard. People are so good
Just hit Grand Champ a couple days ago, I played a bit of the older rendition and consistently have played the new one since halfway through its second season. The skill ceiling is rising so fast, moves only the 1% could do are now spread down the ranks so far, the community is getting good super quickly

The interesting thing with competitive games, and maybe RL in particular which is entirely physics based, is that new ways of playing it that not even the devs could ever imagine eventually emerge.
