Why do we always do this to ourselves?
No... Seriously
Stop.
Every time I walk into a room, it's like a fucking queue for everyone to whip out their "best black jokes", like I haven't heard them or something.

ITT:
-other trending topics you've seen on twitter (racially based TT's)
-how you're tired of all these minorities "getting heard" (expressing their negative stereotypes)
Oh that's right. I can't say this because it's racist.
BTW. (and I'll edit my initial post)
I'm not trying to remove racially based commentary.
I was actually going to steer this thread into discussing the social play out of this behavior and why it exists today. Just so that I could connect with some people who examine things on such a scope.
But I've got work to do.
What? What the dick shit are you talking about?
Do have some sort of problem with minorities or something?
I dont get it
Do WHAT to ourselves...yourselves? Who does that encompass? And what's with the rest of the post as well ._.
Do have some sort of problem with minorities or something?
I have a problem with self suppressive behavior.
I have a problem with being subject to the subconscious prejudice induced by the advertising of this self suppressing group.
nice politically defensive move you made there btw... Really helps other "I'm-not-racist-i-love-minorities"/"i-am-the-minority" people to get on your side without actually hearing the argument/facts.
I was just curious because half of your OP had no grammatical ties to the other half of it. Either that or you were stoned when you wrote it.
Either way: This kind of thing wouldn't happen if ignorant people didn't keep TREATING them like minorities. Both nice and mean people. If you're being nice to them because you believe they are a minority, then you are still treating them like a minority. If you piss them off or abuse them then you are treating them like a minority. As far as I see it: There are no minorities; just the people who think there are minorities.

I'm black.
I have to live with the side effects of black people reinforcing their negative stereotypes by advertising them.
Our = Black people ( do you want me to get more specific? )

agreed
I just want to verify because i'm on a stupid streak today.
You made this thread because you are tired of people making jokes about black people?

I came at it with my personal related trouble (i'm black, I see black self supression) and then I opened the floor to those who related, but not just with "black stuff" but other stuff.
Hence:
-other trending topics you've seen on twitter (racially based TT's)
-how you're tired of all these minorities "getting heard" (expressing their negative stereotypes)
and not
-other trending topics you've seen on twitter (black ones)
-how you're tired of all these black people "getting heard" (expressing their negative black stereotypes)
Ok, I get it. You hate people that act like fucking retarded stereotypes (hoodrats, racist rednecks). I see two types of black people: hoodrats (gangsta n shit), and a black person (acts normal). Right?

What negative stereotypes? Are you in the US or something?

Mmmmergeeefffffff
Just noticed that too.
What negative stereotypes? Are you in the US or something?
yeah, in the US most negative stereotypes are black gangsters that wonder why they are treated so badly when they just hurt the public in many ways.

Saw this on two hours ago. In fact, I think this is why this thread was made.
Become a black defense lawyer, problem solved.

You merely cannot just believe that minorities do not exist. Saying that is like saying that laws don't exist, just the people who think there are laws. Same with something based on opinion and experience like morals. All these things are abstract, but it does not mean that they do not exist by simply dismissing them. The dictionary term for minority is this:
a part of a population differing from others in some characteristics and often subjected to differential treatment
Focusing on "often subjected to differential treatment", which I interpret as discriminative actions and thoughts, that is a very real thing and should be taken into account.
self deprecation is an important part of black culture and it's what keeps it alive among other things
kind of like us jews and saying fuck it

i hate to bump this thread. But if race is not suppose to matter then an attribute of being a suffering minority based on race is not suppose to be accounted for.
Not from you, but from media, all I see is this double speak about "i'm blind to color" and the "affirmative action, different treatment... etc".
[editline]11th April 2011[/editline]
I misinterpreted what I thought to be a clever redefinition of "minority" when he first used it
I don't really understand what is going on but I'll say this:
african american=politically incorrect
Yes. Everytime I listen to a black kid they are making racist jokes. Also if the teacher punishes them for what ever reason they say "Cuz i'm black."
Yes. Everytime I listen to a black kid they are making racist jokes. Also if the teacher punishes them for what ever reason they say "Cuz i'm black."
You should see the USA trending topics on twitter on any given day. After seeing even a few of those, it seems even more absurd for anyone to play the race card.
Man that reminds me of the brazilian guy that was in my class last year, who would always play the race card in completely random situations like a drama queen and take himself seriously. He was also obsessed with brazilian pride and wore a full get-up with a brazilian flag hanging off his ass and an afro and shit. Funny thing was he was raised in Australia, hadn't lived in Brazil since he was three or so.
But I wouldn't think to standardise any race or nationality by him, he was just a huge fucking idiot
God I fucking hate those kind of people.
I was on the school bus home, and a black kid started jumping on the seats. (Note, this was before we left the school)
The bus driver told him to get off, and refused to do anything else until the kid got off. As he was getting off, he said something about the driver being "racist."
Knowing my school, he was just trying to be funny. But even still, this is the first time I ever heard in real life someone claiming racism for no legitimacy, even if it is joking.
Now, on the topic of black jokes...
Yes, they're jokes. And yes, I understand they can be offensive to some.
I'll admit. I make some jokes from time to time. And as you can hopefully assume, I'm not racist.
Though I do understand that these jokes can be hurtful, I say them anyway.
However, I don't care if people makes jokes about my heritage or my country either. Hell, I laugh with them. Yes, the Irish do love getting drunk! Yes, most of America is stupid.
Does that justify me making jokes? Not at all. But in my mind, it lets me know I'm not a hypocrite who makes jokes but gets defensive when I'm the target.
Another black man here. I am proud to be african-american, but I am not proud of how blacks are seen today and how most of them act.
Basically I hate the widespread "ghetto" culture. Because of what it represents and what it is doing to today's youth. Its not even young black males anymore, it is also young whites who are being sucked into this culture because it is now seen as socially acceptable to wear your pants below the knees and act like an irresponsible asshole.
A super gangster rapping son of a bitch that leeches off of society and spends more money on his spinning rims than on his car is a "nigger". "Ghetto" has turned into one of the worst cultures out there today. These are the kinds of people you are afraid of when you walk down the street, and rightfully so.

Morgan Freeman is a black man. He is successful because he worked hard and he has EARNED his success, he does not talk like an uneducated retard from the hood, and he is overall a nice guy.

Nigger =/= African American
Also, I have learned not to get offended by stupid terms like nigger and negro over the years. They are just words, even if they are insulting. I can deal with them, but once someone wants to get physically violent, that is where a real problem arises.
I honestly dont get what your talking about in the OP.
But to keep in mildly on topic, why did black people fight to sit where ever they want on the bus, if their just going to sit in the back and play their loud ass music and talk super loud anyway. I sit in the back of the bus because thats what your supposed to do, move back so others can get on, but even when the bus is full, they shoulder check and stiff arm their way to the back of the bus. and if any one protests, they pull the
'AYE NIGGA WHY YOU TALKING SHIT"/"GOOD WAY TO GET YO ASS SHOT UP NIGGA"
c
Ive seen the last one happen to a kid i know
[editline]11th April 2011[/editline]
And im not saying all black people do this, oh no. I know very many respectable black people (what an accomplishment.) but still, theres a reason stereotypes exist.
