Any ideas. $1200AUD Budget

I plan on starting to buy parts for a gaming rig. Thing is that I have been out of touch with my PC gamer for a while; i.e. the last card that I bought was a WinFast A340 (Geforce FX 5200). I will have a budget of around $1200AUD ($1032.72USD).

I will be starting from the base level up.

I would like it to be fairly decent for the next several years and only require "minor" upgrades such as GPU and RAM.

Hm, why a Q9550? Really.... Get a i5 or i7 for that budget.. It's much much better and will last longer

What is the main advantage with an i7 besides its oc potential? Or the i5 for that matter?

I reccomend AMD very often.... MAinly when someone is on a tight budget or so......
If he has 1200AUD to spend why not get a i5? It performs better in both games and windows......
I said i5 because adzicents already mentioned intel with e Cor2Quad, wich isn't a good choice now..

Intel's i5 has the same performance as a 955 (higher, really) and it's only about $50 more (mobo, CPU is the same price).

Q9550 isn't there but the Q9650 is.
