Looks amazing. It's too bad the model behind WoT is pay to advance past tier 4 to have any sort of rewarding feelings. That and from what I remember, the Match Making is horrendously unfair sometimes.
I hope War Thunder Ground Forces doesn't make the same mistake, or it's just going to be lost in the fog.

WoT does have annoying things, so I'd say that paying is not EVER needed. IMO, my experience is great, but I never have paid a cent directly to Wargaming. WT is going to be groundtastic in it's own ways, so at the end of the day F2P is F2P.
At least it looks pretty. At 15FPS, because what is optimization.
