• $1200 tower/watercooling build

I'm completely revamping my old rig, I have roughly $1200 to do so, not including the OS. I already have a 650 Watt Crosair PSU and some storage HDD's. I asked on another forum, this is what they recommended me: CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($189.99 @ Microcenter) Motherboard: Asus P8H77-V LE ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($102.55 @ Newegg) Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($49.49 @ Amazon) Storage: Samsung 840 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($99.99 @ Mac Mall) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1GB Video Card ($195.99 @ SuperBiiz) Case: Fractal Design Define R4 w/Window (Titanium Grey) ATX Mid Tower Case ($99.99 @ Microcenter) (Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.) (Generated by PCPartPicker 2013-02-21 15:35 EST-0500) This is my suggestion. The case I picked is my favorite case on the market it can accommodate 2 slim 2 fan rads but you could pick something else that doesn't cost as much. It's all preference when it comes to cases. You could also save some money on the power supply I picked but don't go to low, don't want something built cheaply. I hope what I suggested fits the bill though. The videocard they recommended me is completely out of stock everywhere, so I need a new suggestion, I also need suggestions on watercooling components. I know swifttech makes good pumps. I have roughly $200-350 to spend on the WC'ing, which I hope to do both the CPU and GPU. I'm also unsure of that case, I'll probably need at least two 240 rads, I'm not sure if that'll fit it. Keep in mind that with everything they've selected, it puts me at roughly $750, set aside 200-350 for WC and I still have about $100-200 to play around with.
That build isnt the best. -The 3570K supports multiplier overclocking (hence the K) but your H77 mobo doesnt. You might want to change it around to an asrock z77 extreme4. -The GPU is a series old. Why not get a 660ti? Or Amd 7870. -Do you really need watercooling?

I've been out of the PC loop since 2010. Any suggestion for a good mobo or GPU? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125414 That's the GPU I was looking at. Also yes, WCing is what I'd really like to get into. I've always wanted one, but never had the money. I'm going to Microcenter in an hour to look at all their WC stuff
Probably won't get your GPU watercooled with your CPU at that budget, and imo it's a waste to watercool a card that isn't top of the line.
Yeah, I've decided to go with a 7950, and only a single loop for right now. I'll probably go double later. I decided to get the Define R4 case, the i5 3570k, a P8Z22 Pro and some 8 GB of Vengeance memory so far. About $500 in Mobo I got for $150 @ MicroCenter: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131819 RAM I got for $50 @ MicroCenter: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233144 I can always take these back if need be, but did I fuck up anything yet?
If you're going to watercool your CPU then the RAM is fine, but the tall heatsinks can have clearance issues with air coolers.
Alright, I went on PCparts picker. I decided to expand my budget to accommodate the water cooling later down the road to $1500~ CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($189.99 @ Microcenter) - Bought Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V PRO ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($199.99 @ Amazon) - Bought Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($49.49 @ Amazon) - Bought Storage: Samsung 840 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($101.78 @ Amazon) Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card ($297.98 @ SuperBiiz) Case: Fractal Design Define R4 w/Window (Titanium Grey) ATX Mid Tower Case ($99.99 @ Microcenter) - Bought Power Supply: SeaSonic 650W 80 PLUS Gold Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($135.98 @ Newegg) Total: $1075.20 Everything I've bought already totals up to $490~ so I still have ~$550 of stuff to buy. With water cooling and OS included, I still have almost $1000 of stuff to get. But anyways, I need a decent blueray drive, I found this one on newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136252 I was thinking about Windows 8, but I have concerns about compatibility with my motherboards software, so I'll probably stay with 7. Then for water cooling (still a long ways away from that): Pump: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_201&products_id=22586 Res: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=207_160_299&products_id=20412 Rad x2: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=207_160_297_922&products_id=15847 CPU: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=207_160_878_879&products_id=19206 Maybe I'll have a GPU loop later, but right now I'm sticking with just getting this rig operational. I also decided to get that PSU because 1. its modular, 2. I forgot what 2 years of dust can do to your poor components
Build looks good but I still think watercooling is a waste of money. it does absolutely nothing and is just a gigantic hassle unless you want to massively overclock your stuff.
Build looks good but I still think watercooling is a waste of money. it does absolutely nothing and is just a gigantic hassle unless you want to massively overclock your stuff.
Its a huge waste of money, and an even bigger hassle. But I can't stand loud computers anymore. I have an Antec 1200. Its been the best air cooled case I've ever used, but its just so loud. I need this build to be as silent as possible. With 2 pumps and 2 rads I should be able to get really REALLY good temps for both the CPU and GPU since they'll be in parallel instead of serial. Overclocking out the ass, son Anyways, I'll keep it updated when I get all the parts and post some pics, it should be pretty once all the WC'ing is installed
