• Laptop? Which one?

Hey Facepunch There are alot of laptops on the market and i was wondering if you know what would be best for me? So the reason i want to get one is because i'm going to a school next year, and there i might have to carry it around and back and forth. I would like to open and close applications fast, and also do some After Effects work. I'm probably also going to play some games like crysis and crysis 2 on high. The price should hopefully be at 1311 USD but it may go a little over. The laptop should hoopefully be better or equal to my stationary pc right now. My stationary pc has following specs. CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz Ram: 4.0 gb. OS: Microsoft Windows 7 (build 7600), 64-bit Graphics: GeForce 9600 GT So Facepunchers please recommend me a laptop? Just post a link with a model you think i should get. Thanks in advance
You know I would recommend dropping $600 on upgrading your "stationary" PC and $700 on a decent computer that can handle school work. [editline]8th March 2011[/editline] How does that sound? [editline]8th March 2011[/editline] MSI GX660-260US NoteBook Intel Core i5 460M(2.53GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory 500GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 [url]http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152231[/url] $1,099.99 ASUS G Series G53JW-XN1 NoteBook Intel Core i7 740QM(1.73GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory DDR3 1333 500GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M [url]http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220921[/url] $1,199.99 [editline]8th March 2011[/editline] Both have somewhat the same performance, the ASUS is slightly better because of it's CPU. In my opinion the $100 is worth it for the ASUS, but it would be hard to notice the difference between the two laptops in most games.

The problem is that i'm not going to be using my normal PC when i'm at the school because i can't bring it and it's far away from my home.
Umm since you're in Denmark just post specs of laptops you come across. We will judge them for you. Look for something with a dedicated card (of course), an i5 or quadcore CPU (if possible, i5s are not hard to find in laptops). 4 GBs of RAM should be enough. Stay away from: Acer HP Alienware iBuypower CyberPower You'll be fine if you follow these guidelines.
I've been looking at the Packard Bell EasyNote LX86 and it seems pretty good but i want to hear you guys thoughts about it. Looks good. Though I don't know if Packard Bell is a good brand or not.
Packard Bell is part of HP.
Well try to get a different brand than HP. Though that should work well for school. If what Crytek said is true about Crysis 2 being easier to run than Crysis you might get Crysis 2 on medium settings.
I've never seen an older HP laptop that's for sure wile my Toshiba's one of the oldest at my school besides the people who have thinkpads.
