• How to quickly get your Android phone to show in Banshee, Rhythmbox
My favourite music player, Banshee, didn’t recognize my Android phone ‘out of the box’, despite other Ubuntu apps such as Shotwell and Nautilus, doing so. If you’re in the same position you’ll want to try this crazy-simple solution that pals Banshee and your handset up in no-time: - o - Exit Banshee fully and make sure your phone is mounted. o - Open Nautilus and head to the ‘root’ of your phones SD Card (i.e. the first level) o - Create a blank file named .is_audio_player o - Done. Launch Banshee and your phone will be detected, ready for you to stuff your cell full of music using Banshee’s ace auto-sync options. Here's my .is_audio_player configuration: And this is how my USB stick appears under Rhythmbox: Songs transfer to the /Music/ folder on the root of the drive, and are converted to MP3 only if needed. This is useful when your phone or music player might not support .wma, .m4a, .wav files, etc. It converts the unsupported track to mp3 on-the-fly quickly and seamlessly during file transfer. Once plugged into My PS3, the XBM finds the music folder immediately and automatically. Also works great on my Wii (with WiiMC) and probably for the 360 as well, but can't test that since I don't have one.
