• 5770 or GTS 250

You may have seen my threads before, I currently own a 5770 and every hour or so Gmod and/or ep2 trigger a driver or even full game crash. XFX is letting my chose to RMA the 5770 and get it back fixed(or whatever they do) or swap it for a GTS 250. I have tried multiple troubleshooting methods, on both vista and seven the card just wont cooperate, I've done driver sweeper in safe mode, uninstalled all Nvidia drivers, have the latest ATI CCC suite. So I have a few questions. 1)How much of a performance benefit does the 5770 have over a GTS 250(unbiased answer please) 2)What do you know(if anything) about my issue and is it at all common? 3)Which card should I go for? 4)If you say 5770 how can I know it won't have the same issues? Thank you for reading.
5770 all the way. I am pretty sure the 5770 absolutely blows the 250 out of the water

5770 is a whole level above the GTS 250. XFX is trying to scam you.
5770 = 4870 =(roughly) GTX260 [editline]01:22AM[/editline] [QUOTE=FHamster;21151708]5770 is a whole level above the GTS 250. XFX is trying to scam you.[/QUOTE] they go by price not performance. what a retarded fanboyish thing to say
[QUOTE=reapaninja;21152008] they go by price not performance. what a retarded fanboyish thing to say[/QUOTE] If that is true, xfx GTS 250s are way over priced.
Take the 5770 back. The internet café I went to a few months ago used them and they ran great. I can't see any reason to choose the GTS 250 when it's got a bad performance compared to the 5770. What do you mean by " trigger a driver"? What's the rest of your specs, source games usually takes a large benefit from the CPU and doesn't require the best graphics card. The GTS 250 will in many cases have the same FPS as the 9800gtx+.

Get a 5770, it is likely that your current card is malfunctioning and needs replaced. An HD 5770 has many more features, as well as a much better performance level than that of a GTS 250. [editline]09:46PM[/editline] Your issue is usually related to a bad card. [editline]09:46PM[/editline] Happened to my 4870, RMA'd it, working perfectly.
