Yeah I agree it sucks she lost her account but death threats? Come on.
Yeah I agree it sucks she lost her account but death threats? Come on.
death threats are ridiculous, but community anger in general over this isn't unreasonable, more than "it sucks" you shouldn't be able to lose a personal account, something tied strictly to your identity and whose name even resembles your own, via divorce it's like getting divorced out of your facebook account the former husband is a total piece of shit for pushing to strip her of her account, like what kind of piece of shit strikes to ruin their ex's hobby?
Sarah is believed to have offered ownership of the channel, and its related social media accounts, to her husband in the divorce settlement.

He said he had been "reluctant" to take on the channel and its followers because he was not a gamer and had little experience of curating a popular social media identity. The company behind Ara_Gaming is now owned by Crystal, the new host, who is related to Sarah's husband.
This is actually pretty a bit weird since apparently the guy has no fucking clue what to do with the channel, people watch a stream for the host (Sarah in this case) and you cannot simply put someone else there.

Sounds more reasonable that she isn't allowed to say so, because it wasn't her doing.
From what the guy in chat, the mod guy, was saying, the Channel was in an LLC's name, the LLC being owned by the cousin of the husband. So in the divorce the LLC has the rights to the channel, or to better word it, the Ex-Wife no longer has any legal basis to use it. The bullshit part about it all, really, is that 1) She's prevented from streaming for 5 years (Which I find hard to believe), and 2) Some bimbo just gets to pick up where it left off like it's okay as her channel. Sarah built the community, this is like someone swooping in and taking it for themselves like it's a normal thing to do

did you know if you propose to someone and give them a ring and marry them, if you later divorce them they are legally obligated to give the ring back? hows that for an off topic fact? on topic: this whole situation is hilarious; we don't know for sure if she offered or not for sure.

http://www.pcgamesn.com/stardew-valley/twitch-streamer-allegedly-loses-account-in-divorce-settlement In this article, it makes mention that both parties owned the LLC and that SHE offered the entire company to him of her own volition. The only shitty part of this is the crappy non-compete clause, which should honestly be illegal.

Also common to make bad decisions you regret during divorces, since stressful and all that. Either way that's a shitty way to treat fans of a stream.
This sucks for the fans but I can't really side with her in this case. The channel was owned by the LLC, she must have known what it will mean if she just gives it up. It is not new that accounts (social media for example) are owned by the company and people use it as longs as they work there, after that they have to give it away, doesn't matter how much they built a followship. Also signing a contract that says you can not stream for 5 years is pretty stupid. Why would you do that to begin with. I feel bad for the fans, that guy doesn't even gain anything either, the channel will be dead soon.

Lawyers are nasty and I doubt she would just give it away out of good will.

Giving it up or not, it was never her personal account to begin with. I'm pretty sure she wasn't forced into the LLC with her former husband, so she had to be fully aware and sign a contract. You should have the foresight to see that problems can occur if something happens to that company. Edit: I agree that the circumstances of why she gave the rights to the LLC away are unclear, maybe she got tricked, I don't know, but again it wasn't her personal owned account.
This is what happens when you pimp out you GF/Wife for twitch views.
