Hello everybody, as you can tell I am a noob to this forum and a noob to building computers in general. I have done some research but I need help building a budget editing PC. Budget: $600 CAD (Shipped Preferably) Applications: I will be editing HD AVCHD footage. But I can download Cineforem Neoscene to make it easier on the PC. I will be using Sony Vegas 9, Adobe After Effects CS4, Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Adobe Lightroom. Native Monitor Resolution: I do not have a monitor ATM but I suppose I could buy a CHEAP one to the specs. Things I can reuse: I have my Mom`s old Dell Dimension 8300 but I think it would make more sense to sell it for money towards the build. Extras: A monitor would be nice, I have a brand new Dell keyboard and mouse that came with my Moms new computer. I looked into it and so far what I have been able to pick out are a mobo, cpu and case. Im not sure if they are right for the job though. MOBO & CPU Combo http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6671656&sku=B69-4481 CASE http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3438627&sku=A406-1084 I am located in North Bay, Ontario Canada
ricer case get a cm690 or something like that
What about the RAM, HDD, GPU, Soundcard?
samsung spinpoint f3 1tb, for the gpu, probably a 4670 or 4850 if you can fit it. i'm not too familiar with sound cards, someone else should help you with that, also, i'm not saying you have to, but i'd switch to an i5-750 for the cpu
I need some help lowering the price to like 600-700 shipped. I just dont know what I should cheap out on or pay less for.
Get a cheaper processor and a cheaper case, and get a a smaller HDD (unless you need the space), and this PSU: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4465483&CatId=106
Can you recommend a cheaper mobo and CPU then?
Here is the final setup, I just need to know if it will all run together or needs any tweaking.
Get the Gigabyte GZ-X1 case if you just want a good cheaper case (or the Lian Li Lancool DragonLord K58) [editline]04:11PM[/editline] F3 Spinpoint are better choice as HDD and for cheaper, and Corsair CX 400W PSU is better too
Is it true I wont need the video card to edit 1080P and AVCHD?
Not at all But you should get another graphic card, like HD 4670/9500 GT at least
get a new case, such a ricer pos you have. get the cm690
how come no one recommend he don't get 200 dollar mobo
how come no one recommend he don't get 200 dollar mobo
The mobo come with an Anthlon II processor, which explains the price
oh i see my mistake
Get this GPU http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5639258&CatId=3670
Buy locally at memoryExpress if you can then you can shop on newegg and get price matches ect.
This 9800GT seems to be very good for its price
I heard NVIDIA cards dont work with AMD Mobos
I heard NVIDIA cards dont work with AMD Mobos
Nope It's just the SLI setup (2+ Nvidia cards) that don't work on many AMD motherboards
IS there a good GPU with 1GB of memory on TD.ca for under 100?
It doesn't matter for that [editline]12:12AM[/editline] Especially for your actual use [editline]12:12AM[/editline] The 9800GT 512MB at 55$ (from anikilol's post) is a steal
Does VRAM matter for what I'm doing? [editline]10:42PM[/editline] Here is the final setup, I just need to know if it will all run together or needs any tweaking.
If you want to save money buy from memory express locally, then search websites like newegg.ca and they can pricematch it. You will also save some cash and get the PC right away.
There is no Memory Express where or near where I live.

Would I be better off getting either of these? If so what should I offer? Where is your build? [editline]08:52AM[/editline]
Buy local if they pricematch = cheap as fuck.
I don't think so, local stores charge you like +10% on price tags.
what the hell are you doing mate? Where is your build? [editline]08:52AM[/editline]
I was hoping if I scraped one of these for cheap I could just spend like 100 dollars upgrading them.
