• Why do we still have post icons?

No one really uses them for their purpose except in the Releases section or if a thread is NSFW, that can be fixed with tags like {NSFW}, or at least make it so you don't have to pick one before you make a thread. Also remove them from the full reply editor, they aren't even used there.
My brain totally ignores them.
They sort of help me track down threads with specific icons, like "I know this has a politics icon, so lemme look through all the threads with a politics icon in this subforum"
I think they can be useful. Oh, and tags like {NSFW} in the thread title look retarded.
If I see a big ol' NSFW icon next to a thread then I know not to open it when there's family and such hovering around me.
Whenever I make a thread I jut randomly hit a post icon. Topics like politics should have they're own subform, most political issues are in Mass Debate or Sensationalist Headlines/In the News Node anway. Post icons are a nice way to keep everything organized, I usually use them to find a certain thread quicker. Also as people have said, usually NSFW threads are marked with NSFW, there really isn't a reason for them to have [NSFW] in the title.
[warning Mystlight made a post] [truth] [whoa] [nice argue] [editline]24th May 2013[/editline] [QUOTE=Mystlight;40772776]No one really uses them for their purpose except in the Releases section or if a thread is NSFW, that can be fixed with tags like {NSFW}, or at least make it so you don't have to pick one before you make a thread. There's a reason using thread title tags is bannable in most subforums
Uh post icons are used a lot in other forums. WIP for WIP gamemodes/maps/models. Release for gamemodes/addons/maps/models. Help for general help/mapping questions/modeling questions. I think you see the pattern, among many other uses. [editline]wat[/editline] Definitely a useful feature, and like another user pointed out, it's a lot more aesthetically pleasing than seeing a bunch of bracket crap.
The answer to your question is Garry. Its pretty simple. Tags also look stupid and I actually do use them when browsing threads. They're helpful for knowing what I'm getting into.
I dunno. Why do we still have you?
do you realize how long thread titles would get with tags?
Maybe 6 extra letters?
[QUOTE=Mystlight;40774104]Maybe 6 extra letters?[/QUOTE] Dude, just stop yo, people have already presented you with a buncha different reasons as to why they're useful. You can find threads faster, you can tell if a thread is NSFW without having to put it in the tittle of the thread
It'd actually be nice if they gained meaning again.
[QUOTE=Mystlight;40774104]Maybe 6 extra letters?[/QUOTE] lol I know I really never read the tags and its all a matter of a opinion but the fact is there's way more use in having them that way the forums don't look like some kind of shitty chat room filled with weird tags I'd rather have tags my brain totally ignores than [h2]{N-S-F-L}[/h2] in front of my face
One thing is for sure though, we're going to need PS4, Wii U, and Xbox One thread icons by the end of the year. [editline]25th May 2013[/editline] Microsoft/Windows, Apple, and Google/Android icons wouldn't hurt either.
