• Stuck at boot screen.. any advice

I have a friend who recently had damage to his usb port. After that his comp has been stuck at the boot screen with the F menus. Does not recognize any commands from the keyboard. Any ideas?
How did the USB port get damaged?
Someone shoved it in too hard
The only thing you could possibly do, if this is case mounted usb slots on a desktop, is unplug the case usbs from the motherboard and hope it still boots and it didn't short and cause fatal damage. If this is motherboard usb ports that are damaged, then you're fucked short of hardware repairs that honestly probably aren't worth the cost of replacing the computer or the motherboard depending on if it's a pre-built or not. The real lesson here is to teach your friend to not be a careless dingus and maybe use usb hubs from now on because he's clearly too rough with electronics. This isn't a car where hitting it with a hammer might actually fix more problems than it creates. Being rough with electronics is basically a guarantee for damage unless you actually know what you're doing and why you're doing it (and tbh even then there's always a better way).
