If I fill the 2 ram slots I have my PC refuses to go to the POST screen and carry on, yet when I have a single stick in it'll run just fine, however I can't right click on my computer and see the properties for whatever reason. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H, with a 2gb DDR2 800 in at the minute but I tried installing an extra gb for a little extra kick.
Well can you tell me the model for the 1 GB RAM stick? It might not be the same DDR, or maybe it's not a compatible speed. Here's what I'm getting from the specs for your motherboard: http://ee.gigabyte.com/products/mb/specs/ga-73pvm-s2h_10.html
Memory: 1. 2 x 1.8V DDR2 DIMM sockets supporting up to 4 GB 2. Supports DDRII 800 / 667 / 533
http://www.pny-europe.com/product/p-3-44-207/Dimm-DDR2/Dimm-DDR2-800MHz-PC2-6400-1GB/ This is what I'm using, and it's been working fine I actually thought the 2gb stick had gone funny so I ended up getting another replacement.
Well they're obviously compatible with the motherboard. The only obvious answer is that your 1 GB RAM stick blows huge d, or your motherboard does. Try only inserting the 1GB RAM stick. Then try putting the 1GB RAM stick in the other slot. Let's see what happens. [editline]22nd October 2011[/editline] Ever manage to get shit to work?
Try a BIOS update, if that doesn't work, you don't really have any other options, just use the 2GB stick and order the same one again and hope it works.

If it's an AMD then the IMC could be borked, happened to me. Sounds like the same thing.
