Thinking of increasing budget for a 6950. How much better is the 6950 over the 6870? I'd like to use an AMD video card since I've been using them since 2004 and never had problems with them.

6950 is about 15-20% faster, here's a $945 build with the 6950 and Z68 motherboard for if you get an SSD. $910 after rebates.
If you can drop the operating system and use the trial for a month you can get a GTX 570.

Get that 6870 outta here, on a $950 budget you can get so much more. BRB, will whip up another build. (Not that David's isn't good) just alternative.

imo I would go for a 750W
